GPOYW -NYEWTBE (New Year’s Eve with the boy edition)

Since I KNOW some (if not all) of you missed my face clogging up your dashboard I just wanted to share a New Years Eve pic with everyone. One of W’s friends took a picture of my whole cute outfit, I’m waiting for her to email it to me and then I’ll share it too (My top was a long tunic/short dress and I wore leggings with sparkly wedges)!

Boosterthon Fun Run

One of my former students just got a job working with Boosterthon – I checked out the website it looks really cool. It’s a fundraiser and a fitness event!

For those of you with kids in school or that work at a school I would suggest checking out this site. It looks really awesome. My former student is a stellar guy and I’m sure this is a stellar program.

From their website: The Boosterthon Fun Run is more than an elementary school fundraiser. It’s more than a walk-a-thon. The Boosterthon Fun Run is fundraising and so much more!

With the Boosterthon Fun Run, the student is the star! Imagine a program that wraps Fitness, Leadership, and Character together in an unforgettable experience tailored for your school’s campus. Your students learn that fitness is fun as they prepare for the day of the Boosterthon Fun Run. Character lessons come to life as Boosterthon Fun Run team members creatively illustrate integrity, honesty, and caring. Students also learn about what it means to be a leader during the nine day experience. Some schools pay thousands of dollars for expensive character education programs. With the Boosterthon Fun Run, it’s just part of what we do.

WIW – Hello 2011

Last Week (AKA Dec 15): 180.8

This Week: 179.0

Change: -1.8

I am shocked and pleased. I made some really poor choices pretty much the whole month of December.

My lowest weight of this journey has been 175.8 (Dec 1) so I am not too far off. When I orginally started this blog my “Goal” was to weigh 168 (BMI in the healthy range) by January 3rd which was my 1 year healthy lifestyle anniversary.

I spent so much time being bummed that I wasn’t going to hit it that I didn’t realize that I am still SO CLOSE. I should be there in 2 months…

The Cost of Running

In 2010 running was my #1 priority. I did it at any cost.

Well in 2011 I am going to be more mindful of cost. Far too many times I spent money I didn’t have to register for races (more often than not an out of town race), buy new running clothes, trying fancy healthy food, etc. In my mind I was like well this is good debt.

This year I am hoping to BEGIN to get my finances in order. Budgets, consolidations, etc. With this being said I have decided to NOT run the Los Angeles Marathon in March (maybe one day). I don’t have the money for a race and a flight and a hotel and all the money I’ll need to put into training properly (new sneakers, gels, etc).

I still would like to run a Marathon this spring. It’s FOR SURE happening in 2011, but I need to get some control first. I’m very bad at telling myself “NO." Which could explain why I was overweight for a long, long time.

I have ALWAYS been bad with money. I’d sincerely appreciate any advice, tools, etc. I need to handle my debt better because it WEIGHS on me more than my fat ever did.

The future is no place to place your better days.

DMB

I don’t even like Dave Matthews (I actually loathe him), but lately a few of his songs have been speaking to me. There are actually some good lyrics mixed in all that terribleness…who knew!

Welcome Welcome

2011 – You are here and I can tell you are going to a special, special year already.

I want to welcome my influx of followers. I hope you are all here because with this new year, you are committed to a new you.

I was in your place exactly a year ago. And today, January 3rd was where it all began.

In a year’s time I’m 40+ pounds lighter, have run over 700 miles.

I also fell in love with running and changed my whole life.

Good luck to you. I hope I can be a source of encouragement and inspiration!
