No Nike For You

I was denied by the soup Nazi – I mean Nike Women’s Half lottery.

I’m both relieved and disappointed. Relieved to have that $160 stay in my bank account, but it would have been cool to run in the inaugural race. Now I need to find a new spring half, unless I get into the Cherry Blossom 10 miler – which I hear about next week.

On the bright side one of my colleagues, Dolores, who I peer-pressured to enter the Nike lotto DID get in. She ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler last year – her first “real” race and her longest. She rocked the 10 miler and felt confident she could do a half, but after a summer injury she was derailed. Dolores turned 50 this year and I knew I could coax her into thinking about NWM because fo the Tiffany’s necklace you get instead of a medal. I’m excited to “coach” Dolores and cheer for her on race day!

I thought today would be the perfect day to reflect on 2012. I know a lot of people are OVER 2012, but it was a life changing year for me. Now don’t get me wrong I always enjoy a new year and a blank slate, but 2012 will always be a very special year for me. It was so hard to pick just 12 posts – but as a scanned through my archives, these evoked the most emotions or memories for me.

  1. I Got a New Job
  2. Airplane Meet Cute
  3. 2012 Mantra
  4. David Cook & Me
  5. FINISHER
  6. California Love
  7. WIW – Broken Record Edition
  8. Sarah & Jenn: Then & Now
  9. January-June Cloud
  10. The Tall & Short of It: An Epiphany
  11. Weekend in Review
  12. Marine Corps Marathon Thoughts

A new job, life relocation, 2 marathons, meeting my idol/future husband, lots of self discovery and sowing some wild oats.

Of course these posts also make me look back jealous of the 175lb me COMPLAINING as I sit ~8lbs heavier today. The airplane guy never planned out, but he was a good distraction while I was in the midst of some ex-bf drama. California was a magical trip and fell at such a pivotal time in my life.  I also finally got to start living a “normal” twentysomething city life after years in the rural country (eastern Connecticut, Texas, Alabama) these past 7 years.

I love life these days. Thankfully this year I’ve been able to have a good balance of not having work take over my life. However I’m still working finding a balance when it comes to fitness and a social life.

My year on Twitter (over 3200 tweets)!

I had a pretty awesome 2012!

How Rude

Yesterday DailyMile sent me my weekly running report and all it said was:

“here’s your training last week”

instead of

“STELLAR/EXCELLENT/AWESOME/ROCKIN/ETC training last week”

Dailymile I know I only ran 6 miles last week, but that’s the most I’ve run in a MONTH – I should get kudos then too – not just when I’m banging out 20+ mileage weeks.

RUUUUUDE
