I’ve fallen and I can’t get up

I tripped and fell on my easy 3 miler today.

A route I’ve taken countless times. My toe caught the lip of the uneven sidewalk and I flew. I landed so hard that my shoulder still hit and scraped the ground despite having my hands out.

I really saw my face hitting the concrete, thank God it didn’t, but it shook me the fuck up. A runner approached and asked me if I was okay/offered to help me up, but I needed a minute to sit. I haven’t tripped while running in a long time and it was fucking scary. Especially when you are 10 weeks out from an international marathon.

My 3 miles turned into 2, but I’ll be out there for my 6 tomorrow.

Delaware – CHECK

Wrapping up a fantastic girls weekend in Dewey Beach Delaware. I was determined to run while I was here and I did this morning. 5 lovely miles from Dewey to Rehoboth. My ambitious goal was for 7, hoping for 3 and was pleased with 5. I’ve never run in Delaware, so I was excited to cross it off my 50 states of running list!

Happy Things

I got tagged by Jayhawkeringa in 5 things that make me happy.

1. The Ocean. Born and raised on Long Island, I refuse to live in a state that doesn’t touch an ocean. Excited to be headed to Dewey Beach tomorrow for a long girls weekend!

2. My Dog. Freddie is the best seriously. I miss his cute little face all the time and hate when I don’t have him sleeping in my bed with me. I literally worry about him dying all the time because when that day comes I’m going to be a hot mess express.

3. The Color Orange. Out of nowhere my love of the color orange blossomed the summer before junior year of college. I thought it would be a phase, but nope. How can you not smile looking at a bright beautiful orange. I love that it’s loud and a little offbeat, like me!

4. People who think I’m funny. Back was I was a fat kid, all I was confident about was my humor. I still relish in the fact that people laugh at my jokes or find me amusing. Better yet if they tell me I’m funny to my face!

5. Taking off my bra. Especially after a workout. My D cups require major hoist-age and nothing feels better than unleashing those puppies. I’m extra happy when someone else takes my bra off me ;P

I won’t peer pressure anyone with a tag, but I’d love to read yours!

Outdoorsy Couple

T got me a CamelBak hydration (3L bladder) backpack for my birthday!

I have been gun shy to buy one myself despite wanting one (and using his twice) because they are expensive. Now with my CamelBak I have no choice, but to buy myself the hiking boots I’ve been coveting as a birthday gift to myself.

Note: My favorite part was the card! He is an all-star card picker, the perfect balance of funny and sweet.

My Birthdays:  A Tumblr Review

I took a brief journey through my tumblr archives in addition to chronicling the memories that each age/year brought.  Thank you for being with me tumblr through these life changing years. Looking forward to what’s to come…

27 (2010): My first birthday with all of you! I was 8 months into this health and fitness journey. I was training for my first half marathon and gaining self esteem in leaps and bounds.

28 (2011): I was falling out of love with my first guy I loved. I was aggressively job searching, bored with my job, looking for a change and ready to get out of Alabama. I clung to running and bought myself my first Garmin as a birthday present to myself.

29 (2012): First DC birthday – although I was up in NY and in Boston for my bestie’s 30th birthday. I had ran my first marathon back in March and was training for my second (Marine Corps) in October. I was still finding my way in my new job and new life, but I was loving it.

30 (2013): Had a rough few months leading up to 30. Mostly due to work drama, but also the stress of a milestone birthday. I kept comparing my life to others and thinking about if I was behind schedule.

31 (2014): Achieved my goal of doing a sprint triathlon before my 31st birthday (did it a week prior). Ended up doing a 2nd sprint tri later in August taboot. Finally got a grip on my finances. Was newly dating this sweet shy guy.

32 (2015): I am training for my 3rd marathon. Crazy in love with T. Job searching for a bigger and better career opportunity in Southern California. Strengthening friendships with my amazing friends and never taking the time we have together for granted.
