You’re in a new decade, congrats!
It’s Always Darkest Before the Dawn
This has been a favorite quote of mine for a long time and it helped me get through many periods of darkness, but I’m glad to report that the sun is shining on my face brightly these days.
- I feel like my mental health and well-being is in a good place
- My relationships and friendships are thriving
- I’m eating well and sleeping well
- I’ve been able to refind true work-life balance
- The computer does not come home with me and I leave the office at 5, more importantly I’m not thinking about work when I’m at home
- I feel productive at work and at home
- T and I both feel good about plans to delay our destination wedding until September 2019 so we can save more money (all the home renovations took a hit to our savings plan understandably)
I feel like I’m walking a little taller and when people ask me how I’m doing I can say “well” and mean it.
I’m sure the darkness will roll back around at some point, it always days – but to quote my beloved Incubus “In this moment I am happy.”

Holler! Just goes to show you have an indulgent weekend out of town is not an excuse to not get right back on the wagon!
One of my neighbors who I’ve been talking wedding planning with lately (she just got back from Portugal and Spain earlier this month) commented that I looked slimmer yesterday.
Monday Womp
We spent the weekend visiting T’s friends in Pittsburgh which meant Primanti Bros sandwiches, pierogis, booze, and brunch. It definitely could have been worse, but it also could have been better.
Fortunately, we did a TON of walking on Saturday which helped, but I haven’t been to the gym since Wednesday. Gotta stay on top of things this week.
As of today, I’m wearing my new Fit Bit Charge 2 – it told me my cardio fitness is “Average-Good” (34-38) so clearly, I want to be firmly in “Good” and tracking toward “Very Good.”
Fitbit Perks
I started my love affair with Fitbit in August 2013.
My trusty Flex lasted a looong time, but towards the end the battery was draining quickly.
Then in Dec 2015 I got a Charge HR which warped and cracked and I got replaced in Nov 2016. Now here we are September 2017 and my replace Charge HR is warping and bubbling again.
One of my friends works for a company that gets Fitbit discounts and always offers it to her fitness friends, I think it’s like 20%. So TODAY, I decided to compare Fitbits and text her about the discount. Well at least for right now (to her surprise) her discount is currently 50%! So a $149.99 Charge 2 is heading my way for $74.99. I’m excited to buy some cute replacement bands for dressier occasions a la @builttoprotectnottolove
Note: anything you wear 24/7 is bound to have wear and tear, I think Fitbit is very generous with replacements and they are continuously improving their products!

WOMP.
I’ve really stepped up my fitness game – getting to classes 3-4x a week and getting in a long walk 3-4x a week.
I need to tighten up the food game, especially when I’m eating out. However, I’m still conscious and tracking.
So I’m frustrated – BUT RATIONALLY I know the scale isn’t everything. Onward and upward (or downward haha).
So my instagram photo sets from yesterday didn’t post all the pics. Here is the full kitchen before and after.
My heart is especially heavy thinking of all the first responders who jump(ed) to action from acts of terror to acts of Mother Nature.
Went to Body Combat this morning instead of Body Pump because I had a time conflict. Combat is a good workout, but always makes me feel uncoordinated and like a newbie. It’s the type of class where it’s easy to notice all the regulars.
Fred and I got a nice long walk in this afternoon on this beautiful day.
Thinking of all those in Irma’s path who will experience some terrifying weather.
