Blogiversary

January 11, 2010 I started a blogspot weight loss blog that was meant JUST for my eyes. I posted weelky or more for months. I wanted to record this journey.

In Feb or March my real life friend Mr 365 started his tumblr. Around that time TracyTakesOn (formerly operationthinby30 who I followed on her twitter/tumblr based on our mutual David Cook obsession) started hers.

In April I shared my blogger link with them both and posted it on my personal blog. Tracy suggested moving it to tumblr. I poked around tumblr and quickly realized what a special community was here.

In May MeasuringLife life was born and all the rest is history…and history in the making!

Welcome Welcome

2011 – You are here and I can tell you are going to a special, special year already.

I want to welcome my influx of followers. I hope you are all here because with this new year, you are committed to a new you.

I was in your place exactly a year ago. And today, January 3rd was where it all began.

In a year’s time I’m 40+ pounds lighter, have run over 700 miles.

I also fell in love with running and changed my whole life.

Good luck to you. I hope I can be a source of encouragement and inspiration!

Cabin Fever

After nearly a week at my mom’s I’m getting restless. Is it Wednesday yet?

I’ve come to realize that it’s too freakin cold out here for my “Alabama blood” to run outside and the snow that is falling isn’t helping although it is beautiful, but effin up my plans to see friends.

Also that I’m pretty sure my mom is an elf – it seems her 4 main foodgroups are nearly: candy, candy corn, candy canes and syrup. To be technical hers are: chocolate, cheese, coffee and wine.

I’m sure I’ve packed on some poundage whilst home, but it’s just making me look forward to being back at MY HOME and back to my routine and drop this holiday weight ASAP.

Seriously I miss my apartment. I miss my gym. I miss my less cold weather. I miss my routine. I miss my boyfriend.

PS – I wasn’t really on tumblr yesterday so Merry Belated Christmas!!

How you doin’ (in Joey from Friends voice)

Hi new followers nice to see each and everyone of you!

I’ve spend the past 5 months being an obsessive fitblr, don’t get me wrong I’m still obsessed I’m just not blogging as much. It’s actually really interesting to see the wax and wane of who is blogging and who is not – all for various reasons.

I’m hoping to maintain this month weight wise and then come back in January FULL THROTTLE.

I also need to learn to focus my time and manage it better. Time management has never been one of my strengths. And having a new boyfriend is exciting, but it’s A LOT OF TIME. And it’s time I WANT to give to him, but I can’t give it at the cost of my fitness.

Marathon Training is my #1 priority: LA Marathon 3/20 I’m coming for youuuuu

Followed by LOSING weight: 45+ pounds down and about 20+ pounds still to go

Followed by being a good girlfriend, friend, person, employee, etc.

Quick Life Update

Life is grand.

Week 1 of FULL MARATHON trianing is in the books. I had a crosstraining day yesterday. Did the stationary bike for 5 miles and did free weights. It had been FAAAAR too long since I did weights. I’m gonna run and do abs today at the gym. My training has me running 4 days a week and with 2 rest days and a cross training day which I think I’m going to like (and my body) more than running 5 days a week.

I went for a physical yesterday and the doctor said I was “The healthiest person he had seen by far in at least a month.” HOLLER. I had to get blood taken from a VEIN – I nearly died, but somehow braved through it. I have my lady doctor appointment this afternoon. I may throw up from nerves.

Tomorrow I am going to a state park and hike with some friends since it’s late November and nearly 70 degrees out!

W has got me under some type of spell, I kid you not. We have put in some SEEEEEERIOUS phone time the past 10 days. We’re meeting halfway for dinner tomorrow and hanging out this weekend. He also may cause me to rearrange my winter break travel plans so I can spend NYE with him in Nashville. WHO AM I??????

I have my 3 mile Turkey Trot on Thursday morning and I plan on making it my BITCH. I was running VERY BRIEFLY at a 7:47 min/mi pace the other day. Game fuckin’ ON.

Love you all. I smile and think of all of you everytime I look at my tattoo – which is ALL THE TIME because it’s so friggin’ awesome. Safe travels for those of you heading home.

Tattoo Follow Up

The font is called Miss Coltrane. I have a tattoo on my back in the same font.

It didn’t hurt. Maybe the bottom of the “L” since it was lower than the rest. This is my 6th tattoo, but my 8th inking (while I was getting Measuring Life I got 2 other tattoos on my feet re-inked since they were 5 & 6 years old and had faded a bit).

I am someone who HATES shots and needles and blood being taken, but tattooing is a different sensation. I love it all. Plus I’ve always lucked out with awesome tattoo artists who are funny and keep your mind off things.

If you’re thinking about a tattoo and you know what you want and have thought it out, then DO IT. PAIN IS TEMPORARY!
