Mirror Mirror on the Wall

For normal people this may be TMI, but like we always say we aren’t normal.

I’m sad to be checking out of my hotel today. Aside from a great conference, great friends and a GREAT view from my window I will also miss all the mirrors in my hotel room.

There are 2 full length mirrors and a bathroom mirror and let me tell you I’ve spent a lot of time naked in my room checking myself out. I don’t have a full length mirror in my apartment and there is nowhere else where I think I could be naked in a full length mirror. Mostly I checked out my legs to be honest – especially my Achilles heel/tendon because I’m obsessed with that body party. It’s interesting how I see less imperfections and find myself pleased with more of my body than ever before in my life. I’m actually happy where my body is, but I’m excited about where it’s going.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to need to purchase a full length mirror in my near future.

PS – I got a 5K run in this morning. I’m going to miss running in a city and riverside 🙁

Multi State 10K

I had myself a nice little multi-state 10K. I prob did about a mile of it in Illinois, it wasn’t very exciting – mostly highways and casinos. Went back over the bridge and then out and about downtown St. Louis including running around Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play.

The weather was so crisp and the leaves are beautiful right now. I’m hoping to get in another run tomorrow morning before our closing banquet!

Prayers for the Auburn Family

A long time Auburn University faculty member and newly appointed Dean of the college of science and mathematics was killed early this morning by a vehicle while running. Another runner was also hit and seriously injured.

Details are still scare, but she was running exactly where I run. Very scary.

Full Marathon Training

Is it weird that I always refer to a marathon as a “Full Marathon”, but I also think it’s weird when people ask me about how my “marathon” went (I want to be like it was ONLY a half, but then I realize it wasn’t ONLY anything and I need to remember not everyone is as crazy as we are).

Anyway. Full marathon training kicks off in less that 2 weeks. I’m going with Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 training plan. It’s 18 weeks, but I’m giving myself 21 weeks in case of unforeseen circumstances and holiday travel/drama etc.

My preference is to run the Los Angeles Marathon (3/20), with a back up plan of the National Marathon in DC (3/26). I have friends in both places and the marathons are a week apart. Since I don’t know where my life and job will be in 5 months I’m hesitant to register for either. Suggestions on how “close I can cut it” without it being sold out? Are there any rules of thumb?
