Channeling my inner Speedy Gonzales

Running a local 5K this weekend. I’m excited to race, but I know my time will be average. I PRed back in May and haven’t raced since. I did 4 weeks of intense speed training leading up to that 5K. I’m hoping to do some speed work this week. I have 9 minute miles in me – I’m sick of seeing 11 minute miles.

I always struggle between distance and speed. If I was faster that would make the distance go by quicker! I just worry that pushing both and the same time would be a lot of my legs and body.

I know that I can’t fret over speed especially once I officially start marathon training. The goal of the marathon is to finish it injury-free. The goal of every race is really to finish it injury-free, but I know I’m running for time too on 5Ks, 10Ks, and Halfs.
