Solid race. Felt pretty strong until about mile 10 when I really got tired.

I did get to see VeggieLife on the course! I also saw the Internet cheering around mile 9.5, some LI friends around 11, and my bestie and her bf as I finished.

Starting the race in Central Park was electric, but leaving the park and running down 7th avenue through Times Square was surreal!!

Now it’s brunch and green beer time!!

This Weekend

It’s spring break for my students at the college I work at, so I’ve been knocking things off my to-do list left and right. Today is also my last day in the office until Tuesday afternoon because I’m NEW YORK bound tomorrow. Here’s the plan:

  • Driving (with Freddie) to Long Island tomorrow morning with an anticipated stop in the city to pick up my packet.
  • Hang out with my mom on Friday-Saturday then head to my sister’s in Brooklyn Saturday evening and meet up with some fabulous tumblrs for a carb-ilicious pre-race dinner.
  • Sunday is the NYC Half where I have no plans to PR, but instead enjoy the run, the course, and the spectators.
  • Post race boozy brunch plans with some friends coming out to supper me and other runners on the upper east side followed by LOTS of green beer for St. Patricks Day!
  • Monday I’m registered to “march” in the Parade with my undergrad, Quinnipiac University, since they practically sponsor the Parade and our President is like the King of St. Patrick’s Day…no joke! We’ll see if my alumni friends and I make it to the Parade or just the University sponsored post-Parade festivities…we’ll see how my legs feel.
  • Not sure when I’m heading back to DC. I have to be at work on Noon on Tuesday and that’s all I know right now..gonna play things by ear.

I do know that being in the city this weekend and running the half is going to really give me the NYC Marathon bug. I’m in the drawing and we should hear March ~26th!!

I saw both of these on a friend’s blog and had to share. I love productive Sundays. It’s a great Sunday when I get enough sleep, go to church, get a good run in, go grocery shopping, do some meal prep and relax.

This week at work the students at my University are on Spring Break so that means I don’t have 10,000 meetings and can get stuff done. If I use this week right then I’ll set myself up well for the next few weeks. FOCUS!
