One of my besties sent this article to me. She is one of the few people in my life who I share all the ugly details of my relationship with my mother with. This year I was in NY for Thanksgiving, but didn’t tell my mom I was there. It was hard to stay so strong, but I ended up having a lovely visit with other family and seeing some of my chosen family.

This is an important read for people who are estranged from family or are friends with those who are estranged. I’m trying to reprogram what holidays and home means for me. Slowly, but surely I am rewriting my story.

I remember always being one of the slowest kids to do the mile during the physical fitness test portion of the year, that was always humiliating. However, I was okay with the rest of gym class. We wore our gym uniforms under our uniforms on gym days in grade school. In high school it was all girls and I don’t recall any uniform changing trauma.

I’m soooooo close to securing a 4 day work week for the fall to balance out the 6 days a week I was working this summer (and still have 12 straight days of work at the end of August) which will lead to 130 “overtime” hours required (this doesn’t including staying late to work on projects, this is expected/required time above and beyond my salary). Hope to know for sure next month.

I did a thing! I’ve been toying for a while with making a health & fitness Instagram and finally did it last night! I am 100% not leaving my Tumblr community, but I’ve been a spectator in the health & fitness world of Instagram for a long time and I want to join in while keeping it separate from my personal account. I feel like this Tumblr is a mix of ALL of me, but I plan for my Measuring Life Instagram to be more focused on health & fitness. 

I’ll be doing a mix of retrospective posts from the last E I G H T years of blogging and well as current content – most of which I’ll post here too. So feel free to follow me on Instagram too or not, but wanted to share. 

FUN FACT: today is the 8 year anniversary of my moving this blog from Blogspot to Tumblr. I started this blog in January 2010 on Blogspot which was a platform I  used for some other focused blogging (the 1st summer I spent in Alabama for an internship, poetry and short stories I’d written over the years, or going through my quarter life crisis years). I was on Tumblr, but I was using it mostly to post songs and music videos I liked. It wasn’t until March 2010ish that I learned about the Fitblr community and I knew this was where I belonged.

When I’m heavier I feel like it a physical beacon trying to tell the world that I’m not in a good place right now. Which has been why trying to explain my current weight loss and overall feeling of good a little complicated, but worth trying to explain to some folks.
