Simple Pleasures
- Dinner at a cute outdoor spot in with big bulb lights strung overhead
- Drinking Fall beers
- Playing a fiercely competitive game of Scrabble after dinner

Despite back to back triathlons I’ve been a little lax in August between my birthday and work craziness. I have Ragnar next week and a marathon relay in October, so running will be back to being my primary focus. I did restart my BodyPump/Insanity Hybrid program yesterday as well. I really enjoyed it and it’s results, but triathlon training made it hard to keep up multiple workouts.
This weekend I’m flying up to New Hampshire for a bridal shower/bachelorette. While I’m up there I’m picking up my bridesmaid dress. The dress that I didn’t get fitted for in the store since I live in VA and had to “make an educated guess” on what size to order based on my measurements which gave me a 3 size span – so I opted for the middle. Getting this dress and trying it on, will determine my course of exercise for the next 5 weeks until the wedding. EEEKK!
Compliments Abound
One of my students who studied abroad in the Spring, came by my office today and it was the first time I saw her since December. The first thing she said was that I looked great and looked like I lost weight. She knows I’m active so she was asking me what I’ve been up to so I told her about my triathlons. Color me flattered.
Joie De Vivre: Summer 2014 edition
This has been one of the best summers of my life. 2004 was a great summer, also 2006, but I think this has been my favorite summer since! This is especially wonderful since last summer was one of the worst ones ever. Last summer my work was consuming me and making me miserable, on top of the fact I was not coping with turning 30 well. It was a REALLY dark summer. However this summer held so much light and joy. I went back and reread my journal from the summer, it loved reliving all of these moments.

I am also really looking forward to Fall, lots of things on the horizon to look forward to as well. I’m just so happy that I’m so happy. One of my favorite quotes is “It is always the darkest before the dawn.” I pushed through the darkest hours and the light has never felt so good.
