Shout out to Wolf Trap (the ONLY National Park for the performing arts venue that is amazing and only like 10 min from me) for featuring this in their newsletter.
I’ve always been okay with going to concerts or even more so live theatre alone. I rather go alone and fully focus on enjoying it as opposed to dragging someone and “worry” about if they are enjoying themselves. The best option however is having friends who like the same live music/theatre that you do, so you both get to fangirl out and enjoy it! Honestly, I’m ALWAYS down for a live show of any kind and happy to join anyone who really wants to catch a show, but isn’t quite up for going stag!
48 “Kinky” Hours in NYC
On Saturday immediately after my urban hiking class, I took a 6PM bus to NYC that got in at 10:30PM. I headed straight to my sister’s in Long Island City and went to bed.
Saturday morning my sister and I caught up some before I left for brunch with three friends in midtown. My sister met up with me and my friends who came down from Boston to see KINKY BOOTS with us. My beloved David Cook (you may know him as American Idol Season 7 winner in 2008) debuted last week in Kinky Boots as Charlie Price.
I mean David was amazing, even better than I dreamed (he was funny, a great actor, had some physical “stunts,” and sang his face off), however, I was taken aback by how unbelievable the entire show was. The music and the message of the show are joyous. Wayne Brady is back as Lola and Kirsten from Pentatonix was Lauren in the show. What a trio of amazing. David is currently only in the show through May 5, but I suspect his contract might be extended. I’ve seen over 25 shows on Broadway and I highly recommend seeing Kinky Boots (with or without David, but I mean if you can see David…GO).

Spent Saturday night hanging out with my sister, doing sister things like ordered delicious NY pizza and watched Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction on Amazon Prime followed by the new season premiere of Trading Spaces.
We were up at 5:15AM yesterday so I could go with her to the Body Pump class she teaches uptown on Mondays at 6:30AM. In NY they already launched the 105 release (my gym is launching next week I think). It was a solid workout and I, clearly, pushed extra hard because I wanted to show off for my sister haha.
Before I knew it, it was 10:30AM Monday and I was back on a bus home.
AMAZING WEEKEND ALL AROUND!

*of course I got him to sign my Playbill at the stage door after
New Study Says Going to Concerts Regularly Will Help You Live Longer
New Study Says Going to Concerts Regularly Will Help You Live Longer
I 100% believe this. Concerts and I’d argue live theatre have nothing but a positive effect on my mental health and well-being!
I totally forgot to report here that my BELOVED David Cook is going to make his Broadway Debut in Kinky Boots as Charlie on April 3.
I’m heading up to catch him with friends April 8 which gives me a chance to go back for a 2nd helping if it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread!
So excited to see two of my favorite things combined – and to finally check out Kinky Boots!
Early Valentine’s Day date! At intermission and I’m smiling ear to ear. The whole cast is great, especially my beloved Adam Pascal!! (at National Theatre Washington, D.C.)
Brothers Osborne Doing “While You Still Can” on the Bobby Bones Show
Brothers Osborne Doing “While You Still Can” on the Bobby Bones Show
God, I love radio – it’s such a powerful format.
Despite being a devoted Elvis Duran listener, I do sometimes flip to Bobby Bones when Elvis is on vacation. I flipped to Bobby yesterday following the Vegas shooting because he’s on the country station and turns out Bobby and his band played the Harvest 91 festival Saturday night. Bobby was super raw yesterday. I listened to him this morning because he had a ton of artists come into the studio to play songs to honor all the victims and fans.
I’ve never heard of the Brothers Osborne before, but this song SHOOK me. I needed to like decompress in the car before coming into the office.
Yesterday’s @hanson concert was quite a workout (8pm-10:30pm) and pure exhilaration!
Weekend Plans
Tonight I’m using an Open Table $20 reward voucher at a restaurant that a lot of people love, but we had a meh experience with. Still, it was the closest and most reasonably priced option I could use the reward at. So we’ll see.
Tomorrow the plan is to wake up early enough to get to Body Combat class at 9:30 then I have a noon hair appointment. I keep wanting to CHOP all my hair off because it is SO long, but I’m going to have her put it in a bunch of layers and see if that helps weigh me down less! We also have a friend’s housewarming party to go to tomorrow – we haven’t seen the couple since their wedding in May so it will be nice.
Sunday Lazy morning with T since he’ll be out of town for work most of next week. I also want to get a long walk in with Freddie and maybe yoga. Then I plan to do some Home Goods/TJ Maxx shopping in downtown Silver Spring before going to see HANSON (yes, THAT, Hanson) in concert with a friend. My sister was supposed to come, but her company just got sold/changed hands and she didn’t want to ask for time off so soon. Luckily my work friend who gave me the final push to join Weight Watchers is a music junkie and she’s pumped to come!
Oh hey @charleskelley! Great show, what a fun time! (at The Fillmore Silver Spring)
