T FINALLY got big boy running shoes yesterday!
The only “running shoe” he’s had are OOOOOOOLD Asics trail shoes. I’ve been bringing up getting his feet/running analyzed at a running store since this summer when he started running a few times a week. On top of the fact that his feet HURT post run. He has his 12K this weekend and I’m pretty sure once he gets that 1st medal he’s going to be addicted.
I saw via email that a local running store (not my usual place, but one I still get emails from) was offering a 20% discount to Veteran’s yesterday. Every other Veteran special thing we tried to do yesterday was a bust because of SUPER long waits or in the case of bowling – they only had league play in all 48 lanes despite their national advertisement about “All day Veterans bowl free.” This bowling debacle lead to me calling Customer Service and filing a complaint and talking getting a call back from a regional manager and free game vouchers for a future date. Still seeing T disappointed KILLED me. We had planned to go bowling even before I knew about the Veteran’s day promo and then for us to get turned away…
Sorry back to shoes. I was determined to take advantage of SOMETHING for T as a Veteran. So we went to the running store. T only needs a light stability shoe, but needs to be mindful of his heel strikes and an overly long stride. Plus his old ass shoes which “scared” the employee helping us were a full size smaller than the shoes they put him in.
We’ll see what shoes he runs in for his 12K on Sunday. I know new shoes aren’t recommended, but his old ones are just horrible. I’m pretty sure I’m creating a running monster – who runs 7:34 min/miles and wants me to try and keep up.
