Tumblr crashed today and so did my plans to go to the gym. It’s okay because today was supposed to be a rest day, but I wanted to get ahead of schedule.

W and me at toomers after the Auburn win!
Toys for Tots 10K
I dragged myself out of my cozy bed to run in a 10K this morning. I wasn’t 100% committed to running it because of not wanting to wake up, but I bit the bullet and bought a Barbie for Toys for Tots last night so I KNEW I had to get up and run.
It was a brisk 37 degrees when I woke up. I did however opt to run in only compression shorts and a dri fit shirt – which was a good call! The race had a 1mi run as well as a 5K and 10K. Lots of LITTLE kids – I mean like 2 and 3 year olds “ran” the 1 mile run with their parents. It struck me as strange for a second, but then I realized the parents are developing good habits for their kids! There were a good bit of middle schoolers running the 5K. In hindsight I wish I was truly exposed to running earlier and hope one day to have my kids race with me!
Back to my race. Good group, excellent weather, HILLY course. This town is nicknamed “the loveliest village on the plains” – plains my ass. I fought the whole race to pace myself and not burn out too early. I also hoped to run the whole thing non-stop. I accomplished both! My hope was to come in under and hour, but I told myself to not be disappointed if I come in within 1 hour 1 min because it was realistic.
Well, I ran the 10K in 58:46 – that’s almost 11 min faster than my previous 10K I ran in July!
That’s an average of 9:27 min/mile
My Nike sensor told me I PRed on my mile with a time of 8:26
My 5K split was 29:30 – so I ran the second half in an illusive NEGATIVE split.
Great freakin race – I couldn’t be happier! I hope all of you that has raced today had stellar runs too!
Thanks to a post from @Fittywithit I just ordered myself a Road ID – Shoe ID. It has crossed my mind a few times that God forbid something happen to me no one would know who I was. And especially being so far from home it could be problematic.
I got a shoe tag (I won’t even have to remember to put it on, it will just always be there) and was able to put to put my name as well as phone numbers for my mom and aunt who know my medical history, but are 1,000 miles away and a number for my boss who is here. Plus I got to add an little inspiration line too (Sound Mind. Sound Body.)!
I also added the light bracelet to the top of my Christmas List.
Both of these products are going to make me feel a HELLUVA lot safer on the road.

COCO ROCKS JEGGINGS
Seriously if my legs looked like that I’d rock jeggings 24-7. Who knew Coco has some seriousssss legs!
I actually am considering trying on jeggings. Not even buy yet, but trying them on. I do love the jegging/boot look A LOT.
For once I don’t have much to tumblr about. Life is grand all around. Well maybe minus the dangerous christmas parties with treats galore.
Here’s a picture of me last night at a christmas party my office threw for all our former orientation leaders. I brought a veggie tray and pita chips with hummus, but I indulged a bit too.
Next week I’m going to the President of the University’s christmas party as the guest of a colleague across campus who was invited. Apparently the food is top notch and there is an open bar!
Then in 2 weeks I’m going to W’s work Christmas party…eek! He’s meeting a few friends this weekend when he comes to watch Auburn win the SEC championship game. Did I mention he’s an Alabama fan – that’s his only flaw thus far!
I hope your birthday is grand.
Little known fact… The only reason anyone knows about my Tumblr is because E wrote a really nice post about me about a year and a half ago. If it wasn’t for her, I’d be walking around Little Rock crying because I never got to meet any of you cool people.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY – I WISH YOU NOTHING BUT HEALTH, LOVE AND SUCCESS FOR YOUR 26th YEAR!
Dropping Sizes
Ms. Glam I wasn’t sure if you were going to publish these responses, but I found them very comforting. I thought I was a weirdo for not dropping pant sizes faster, but it seems like 15ish pounds was an average.
