MIA

I’m going to MIA a bit this week. We are in the process of interview students to serve as freshmen and transfer orientation leaders. AKA I get to see nearly 200 students in group interviews this week. It’s stressful, exciting and fun. However I will not be at my computer much throughout day.

I do have to say I love interviews because it gives me an excuse to really DRESS UP at work. We are pretty relaxed business casual in the office reguarly so I take this as an opportunity to whip out my blazers, dress pants, heels etc. I think I’ll take pics of my outfits each day and post them!

oopsies

I skipped the gym today for 3 reasons:

  1. I pushed hard yesterday with my 3 hours of exercise.
  2. I forgot to shave my legs/underarms – normally I don’t care if I miss a few days, but I was worried I’d see the cute bouncer I talked to on Friday!
  3. One of my former head orientation leaders was in the office as we were closing up. Him and I ended up talking running/races/triathlons etc for nearly an hour after work. He was very supportive of me and my running all summer and we did the early morning parent runs at orientation together (well I went to 2 of 8 and he went to 8 of 8). Him and his twin brother has planned to run a full marathon this fall, but some injuries derailed their training a bit.

All in all I don’t regret my decision. I’m gonna make up this run on one of my rest days later this week – which means it will have to be a pre-work run since my afternoons later this week are pretty booked!

Who wants to rub my feet?

I’ve noticed after my double digit runs that my feet get weirdly sore.  It’s not exactly pain, but I’m like acutely aware of all the bones and muscle in my feet.

I’ve slathered my feet in icy hot gel and worn socks to bed which has helped, but does anyone else have an suggestions?

I have getting a spa pedicure on my list, but I’m putting it off until my toenail that I lost grows in a bit more.

WTF

Apparently  Nike+ sensor didn’t “save” my half marathon last week. It’s not under workout history not did it sync to Nikerunning.com

I’m pissed. Seriously every freaking other run is there. And I know I “ended” workout because I saw my time and pace.

I’m extra mad because I could totally be at “level GREEN” with the half.

Is there a manual add to Nikerunning?

3 Hour Throwdown

Days like today I’m actually thankful I don’t have a significant other or kids. I spent 3 hours today exercising. I run 5 miles to the gym – in 90 degree weather mind you despite the fact that we had a cold snap last week. Then did an hour of yoga at the gym and ran 5 miles back home.

3 hours of just exercise and I love it. It made me really think about kicking into full marathon training gear because I have the time for it.

I should also note and it thought of @365to30 today at yoga. Our yoga teacher today was a substitute who I have never seen before and she was bangin’. Seriously I spent most of class looking at her body. I actually later asked her how tall she was because yoga looks so different on people of different heights and our poses were similar (hers was way better, but our form was similar). She was 5’8, lean, but still had big boobs, a butt and hips, but everything else on her was lean and softly muscular. Seriously watching her move through poses was beautiful. She said she hasn’t taught since before the summer and she felt out of practice and was nervous. I would have never guessed. I really liked her class, lots of new stuff with a lot of strengthening. I sweated most of the class.

Oh and I signed up for a 5K on campus next Sunday which will be fun. I’m addicted to races and finish lines so it will be a nice way to keep up my momentum as aI gear up for my second half marathon on 10/30!

10.10.10

In honor of 10.10.10 I am going to run 10 miles today. I’m actually going to run 5 miles to the gym go to yoga class and then run 5 miles home.

Alos congrats to all our awesome tumblring Chicago marathoners – you rock!

Sidenote: this is my 400th post!?

Great Night

Last night was FANTASTIC.

I had not been out for drinks with friends for a while (I actually had not had any alcohol for a month in preparation for my race) and had SO MUCH FUN. I somehow organized a big group (a mix of people from my various social groups which was really fun) to go to this downtown wine trail event. We then wound up at a pub and it was just really fun times. The owner of the pub is from New York and so we chatted for a long time. The more I talked to him the more my New York accent came out which my friends found to be funny.

One of the staff/bouncers at the pub is a cute guy from my gym. Thanks to some liquid courage I introduced myself and we talked for a bit. I don’t THINK I embarrassed myself, we’ll see how it plays out at the gym this week.

I induldged in some “fourth meal” from Taco Bell at 2am. I’m not proud, but I do regret it. I haven’t had Taco Bell since January. I only got 1 crunchwrap supreme – the old me would haven gotten 2. Small victories.

Pants off dance off

The past few weeks I’ve been trying to get “one last wear” out of a number of pairs of pants before I consign/sell them.

Well today I am wearing XL knit pants from NY&Co that I love, but they are waaaaay big. Like creep down my hips every step I take and I’d have to pull them up every so often. Well this morning I was walking across campus holding two cups of coffee and my pants were really sliding low to the point that I stepped on the cuff and they almost fell down!

I had two cups of coffee in my hands and didn’t know what to do. It was both scary and hilarious. Luckily I was able to put the coffees down on a bench and pull my pants up! Needless to say today is the last day I’m wearing these pants.
