Just Keep Swimming

Thanks for everyone’s kind words on my breakup post. I sorta slept last night, but my eyes are still super heavy today. Luckily work’s been busy and kept my mind off things. However I can’t wait to leave work today and run. Probably run while crying (it’s a new favorite pasttime). I just need to keep moving forward. I’m out of relationship limbo, now I need to get my act together.

My to do list: Pounding out miles and pounding out resumes.

Channeling my inner Speedy Gonzales

Running a local 5K this weekend. I’m excited to race, but I know my time will be average. I PRed back in May and haven’t raced since. I did 4 weeks of intense speed training leading up to that 5K. I’m hoping to do some speed work this week. I have 9 minute miles in me – I’m sick of seeing 11 minute miles.

I always struggle between distance and speed. If I was faster that would make the distance go by quicker! I just worry that pushing both and the same time would be a lot of my legs and body.

I know that I can’t fret over speed especially once I officially start marathon training. The goal of the marathon is to finish it injury-free. The goal of every race is really to finish it injury-free, but I know I’m running for time too on 5Ks, 10Ks, and Halfs.

I got my hair did yesterday!

I went with an ombre for the color – aka darker on top and lighter on the bottom/ends.

I love playing with hair color. This is a nice fall look – an homage to your sun soaked locks growing out, but in a fabulous way.

The color should lighten some with a few washes. The back looks cool too.

Sips and Spa

A local spa had an event tonight including wine, sweet treats and free services. I won a 15 minute neck and shoulder massage. It was glorious especially after my stressful week. I actually also won a door prize – $100 permanent cosmetic gift certificate, (which I declined…no face tattoos for me).

I feel so relaxed 🙂

Los Angeles is ON.

When I register (in November due to lack of funds currently) I’m going to join David Cook’s Team. Dave is my hero, it’s so fangirl, but I don’t care. He’s had such an impact on my life.

Being a fan of him as a contestant on Idol kept me sane in the months after my dad died – seeing him on Idol was the only thing I looked forward to at the time. Dave also got me running. I first started running to join him in a Cancer Fundraiser 5K in May 2010.

I think running my first marathon with him and for his cause is only fitting.

100th Run of 2011

I saw on daily mile that my 4 miler yesterday was my 100th run of 2011. Yesterday was also the 271st day of 2011. So I’ve run about 1/3 of the year thus far. I have a few too many hiatuses this year. January, May, and July most notably. I’ve only logged 370 miles so far which is sad considering my goal was 1,000 miles this year. I know I’ll finish out 2011 strong, but I’m still disappointed.
