Every summer we have to order J. Crew shorts for work that we LIVE in.
3 years ago I was squeezing into 16s
2 years ago I was still squeezing into 16s
Last year I opted for comfortably LOOSE 16s as opposed to snug 14s
Today I went to try on the sample shorts they send to work. I went for the 14s. They were very comfortably loose. I hesitantly reached for the 12s and they fit like a glove. I am ordering 12s for this summer. Just out of curiously I tried on the 10s. They zipped up!! It wasn’t pretty, but gosh darn it I was in them!
I still walk around usually in clothes that are now baggy on me, but I’m trying not to spend too much money on clothes that are just transition clothes. I can’t wait til the day comes when I CAN STOCK UP ON 10s.
A post from likemebutsmaller about cutting about on tv/internet got me thinking. I had a tivo box from my dad after he died, but never set it up. I just sat my tv on it from Dec 2008-Jan 2010. Finally in January 2010 I decided to hooked up the tivo (to record American Idol – because I was using a VCR for recording other things prior). I quickly noticed that with tivo I got to watch what I WANTED. There was no mindless television watching or channeling surfing.
Cutting out mindless television also meant a reduction in mindless eating. Now when I watch television I’m engaged in what I want to watch. Even though I can “pause” the show I usually stay planted. I find myself not getting up to snack as much.
I also should mention that getting tivo coincided with starting my weightless journey. Getting tivo meant that I didnt have to rush home from the gym to watch a tv show. Living in the central time zone is tricky when primetime tv starts at 7pm.
Tivo has given me so much freedom and time, it was a very good investment on my end.
I don’t know why I didn’t want to work out today. I went to the gym for a change of pace, but I had to force myself to get dressed, force myself to drive there, force myself to get out of the car and go in. But then once I do all is right in the world. I don’t know why I have days like that, but I’m glad I went.
I ran my intervals on a treadmill. 7 x 400s at 7.5 alternating with 5.5 – I was SWEATING SOMETHING FIERCE.
Then I stretched and did some weights while checking myself out in the mirror the whole time since it had been nearly 2 weeks since I went to the actual gym.
I LOVE avocado, but I need to know the tricks you all use to cut it and keep it fresh. I generally find ways to use the whole avocado at once when I buy them. I’d love to bring half to work or something, but I don’t want it to get brown.

CHUG SOME AGUA – IT’S ALL WATER WEDNESDAY!
*My AWW reminder last week with the coke vs. water info has been reblogged over 710. CRAZY!
One of my students was in a serious ATV accident this weekend. THANKFULLY she will make a full recovery, but it’s a LOOOONG road. She got a concussion and broke her femur in two places. She was airlifted to a hospital for emergency surgery where they put a rod in her leg. She is in a wheelchair now, but is transitioning to crutches/walker. It’s her right leg so she won’t be able to drive for at least 9 weeks and faces a lot of rehab. My heart breaks for her, but I also know her injuries could have been much worse.
I don’t know what I’d so if I was in her shoes. I pride myself so much on being independent, that not even being able to drive would be a major blow. Then I think of not being able to RUN, BIKE, SKIP, SWIM, DANCE, FROLIC…
I am so thankful for my body and I feel like I am hyper aware of how despite being slightly overweight my body is “the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.” I’ve never broken a bone or gotten a stitch. The thought of either always scared be, but now as a runner it TERRIFIES ME.
Love your body. Take advantage of how easy and pain free you can walk, jog or run.
