WIW – I blame the booze edition

Last Week: 196.8 (195.4 – this was my weight last Friday after WIW)

This Week: 198.2

I’m not thrilled with a gain, but I knew it was coming. I ate fairly well this weekend (minus the wedding cake), but I drank a goooood bit. I don’t even know why, it’s been like 2 months since I DRANK and I guess I just wanted to blow off steam since I was on vacation in a new town. Plus I think the 10K made me feel like I could induldge and I don’t regret it. I’m back on track and that’s what matters. I’m still aiming for 189 by my birthday – August 4!

Regardless of what the scale says I still feel great. I actually had to use a smaller belt notch this morning which was very exciting.

Alabama gets Healthy

Moving the the south from the northeast a few years ago definitely didn’t help my weight. I can totally understand why Alabama is one of the most obese states. We all know southern food by nature is fried, sugary, and buttered. However I didn’t realize how few healthy options are available, especially when it comes to products in grocery stores.

Over the past few months I’ve read so much about various healthy/organic options, however I’d have to drive like 2 hours to a “healthy/organic” based grocery store.

Well in the past 2 months we’ve gotten a Publix and an EarthFare. Both of which are grocery stores for those of you not in the south, as I’m pretty sure they are both southern based chains. These stores have been talk of the town.I still wish we had a Trader Joe’s but I’ll take what I can get.

I already have started my love affair with Publix right after it opened and tonight I checked out EarthFare.

2 of my awesome purchases include:

  • 36oz Fage Greek Yogurt. 36oz!!!!
  • Shirataki noodles – which @tracytakeson had me worried about, but I decided to give them a whirl and I really liked them. The texture didn’t both me at all, but I can understand why it would.

Days like this I really wish I took a "Before Picture.“ I think I was too afraid to see what I looked like and then would have had "proof” that I was that unfit.

Regardless I’m on my path to fitness and I can’t believe the confidence that has come with it.

I actually bought this dress in DECEMBER (I know random) and planned on wearing it with like leggings and a long sleeve shirt underneath. Well I never did. The dress hung in my closet for months, I even packed it to wear on my DC trip, but never wore it. When I packed for this trip I put it in my suitcase because it was red, white and blue. I showed my friend the dress and she told me to try it on. I warned her that it was too short and I wasn’t going to wear it, but I put on the dress for the first time in months and I didn’t hate how I looked in it. The dress was actually a normal length and looked cute. I didn’t feel self-conscious wearing it. I don’t know what got into me, but at one bar I decided to do karaoke. Ummm I’ve only done that once and I was BEYOND drunk. However I only had one beer and thought why the heck not. Was my singing terrible…I’m sure, but I had fun and got lots of claps and high fives after.

All of this really makes me think of the posters in my gym that says:

Change your body. Change your life.

Those words are becoming truer than I ever could have imagined.

Say Cheese

I just got tagged in a bunch of pictures from this weekend on facebook and seriously I don’t even recognize myself in some of them. I haven’t really had pictures taken on me in two months and it’s crazy to see the changes in my body. I felt so confident and pretty all weekend – running the 10k only added to it.

Sadly my eating and DRINKING choices weren’t the best including drinking beer and eating stolen wedding cake (long story) around a camp fire last night post-fireworks. Now it’s back to the eating right for me.

I’ll post stories and pictures tomorrow AND catch up on all of your posts, I felt like just browsing them on my phone wasn’t giving you all the focus you deserve, so I will be spending my morning catching up tomorrow.

Perfect Run

Today’s 10K was GLORIOUS.

I felt great, temperature was in the 70s with overcast skies, and I was ready to go.

My goal time was 1:15:00

My ULTIMATE goal time was 1:09:00

My unofficial times thanks to the ipod stopwatch was 1:09:10.

HOLLER!

I felt so great the whole run. It was the 5K loop twice which I liked. We ran over 2 different bridges and there were more hills than I would have liked, but I pushed through.

I felt so strong and powerful.

My friend Sara ran her first 5k today and high fived me as I crossed the finish line and got it on video.

After we finished there was a beer truck which was pretty glorious. It overall was a very laid back race VERY different than my 5K.

Seriously though finish lines I’m addicted to you. Bring on the half marathon in 2 months. Also I’m ready to turn 27 a month from today…I swear I’m like a fine wine I, I only get better with age.

I’m sure I’ll write more about the 10K at a later and date and include some pictures, but I wanted keep you all in the loop.

Thanks for all of your love and support!

Nighty Night

It’s 11pm I’m headed to bed after a successful day of water drinking and eating well. I did have 1 glass of wine, but it was free and I turned down like 20 other glasses of wine today (of course the ONE day I’m not drinking is when Nashville wants to like give wine away).

10K tomorrow morning 7am CST. I’m stoked.

Wish me luck!

xoxo

Music City Soundtrack

I’m in Nashville y’all (ok I didn’t say y’all, nor would I….I’m a stubborn Yankee in the dirrrrty south).

Lots to do this trip so excited, my friend Star did all the planning and it’s gonna be redonk. I’m most excited about watching fireworks from the roof of the Country Music Hall of Fame (a friend works there and it HOOKING US UP). Seriously this is going to be such a great weekend…I’m glad to be able to recharge my “social life” batteries and DOMINATE this 10K.

I did want to share my 10K playlist with you guys:

As you can see I have a David Cook addiction (Axium is his old band). Creep is my anthem so I needed it on there twice. It took me forever to figure out a order, but I was thinking about what songs I’ll need to pump me up at certain points. I’m really stoked about this playlist.

Love y’all (again didn’t say y’all, but it’s fun to type)
