Yay

After a little rollercoastering on the scale I am back to 195.4 which has been my lowest weight since I started my journey.

I’m headed out for Nashville in a bit with a stop for a pedicure before I go – gotta be good to my feet. I hope to make the best eating decisions possible this weekend. I’ll have my laptop and BlackBerry so I won’t be completely out of touch.

My little mouse (ok he’s a pomeranian) Freddie was looking extra cute today and I thought I’d share his cuteness with you all.

He is 2.5 years old and 7 pounds of loooooove.

Freddie has become quite a good runner as well, usually I only take him out on 3 milers or less.

Sadly Freddie will be at the kennel this weekend while I’m in Nashville and he also will be getting all his yearly tests/shots etc. Poor thing. Lucky for him I am spoiling him rotten tonight!

Second Job

So money has been really tight lately for reasons I cannot even understand, but I have made many adjustments to my life to free up money. Regardless I was talking to my sister about it and she asked if I thought about getting a second job. I have a freaking master degree and work at a damn college and I need a second job talk about enraging, but I actually have thought about it.

HOWEVER.

I really treat my running and weight loss as my second job. I don’t want to do anything that wold take time from this. For me being fit and healthy is more important that money.

I’m actually job searching at the moment with plans/hopes to move back to northeast. Either NYC (I don’t know if I could be THAT close to my mom), Boston, Baltimore, DC. It’s sad because I do love my job, but I know I can find a job with better money AND be closer to my best friends. I do worry about what a move and change of routine would do to my health and fitness.

I had so much on my mind today that my run was only so-so. Did 5 miles on the treadmill and worked legs with my trainer tonight. Tomorrow I’m heading off to Nashville for my race weekend and I will try not to overly stress about money.

June in Review

I ran 75.9 miles this month. I had some wrong calculations when I said a few posts back I’d do over 80 this month…my weekly running schedule is off track from the calendar, so if I tacked on the rest of this week I would have been over 80. Regardless impressive numbers.

I also worked out 21 out of 30 days this month. Rest days are important, but it’s so much better to think of exercising as the rule and not the exception.

I’m only down 3 pounds this month, but I’m okay with that because I see and feel the changes in body regardless of what the scale says.

So looking ahead…

I’m pretty sure I’m gonna do the Virginia Beach Rock & Roll half marathon Labor Day Weekend

and I actually am also looking into a half marathon in New Orleans Halloween Weekend that a friend might join me for

Tomorrow I leave for Nashville and kicking off my 10K weekend 🙂

End of June Measurements

So last month I took my first set of measurements and here we are one month later, I knew it was going to be a big month and it was.

  • Chest: 36 (0)
  • Waist: 36.5 (-1.5)
  • Hips: 43.5 (-4.5)
  • Upper Thigh: 27 (-1)
  • Above Knee: 17 ¾ (-1.25)
  • Calf: 16.5 (0)
  • Upper Arm: 13 (-2)
  • Mid-Upper Arm: 12 (-1)
  • Neck: 12.5 (-0.5)
  • Wrist: 6 (-0.25)

That’s a loss of 12.75 inches – I counted my upper thigh twice and upper arm twice, but didn’t include the above knee or mid-upper arm measurement in my total.

Seriously though I woke up one morning and my hips fell off. Really. I looked in the mirror and was like WTF. My bottom half is disappearing…I wish my middle would follow suit and soon!

I needed this, these numbers make me feel great seeing that my scale is the devil. I’m only down about 2.5 pounds for the month, but clearly I’m getting leaner and toner.

Huzzah!

P.S. The 3 miles I did this evening were great, if I have taken my water bottle with me I would have been up for doing a 4th mile. Sometimes it’s just getting your ass out the door….if there’s a will there’s a way.

Drained

Just got back into town a little while ago.

I planned on doing 5 miles today, but after 8 straight days of working loooooooooong (12-18 hour) days I know I can’t do 5. I was actually going to skip running today all together.

I started writing a post saying that after a month of running all my scheduled runs today I failed, but I couldn’t bring myself to “publish it.” So I went upstairs and put on some work out clothes and am going outside for a 3 mile run (which I planned to do tomorrow, but instead I’ll do 3 today and 5 tomorrow).

This run will not be pretty, but it’s happening.

Thank you tumblr…see you on the flipside.

My test run in my 10K outfit went REALLY well yesterday. I think dri fit clothing has changed my life. Seriously though I felt so good in my gear and not like an overheated, sweaty, soggy mess. I actually PR’ed by nearly a minute on my treadmill 5K.

  • BCG dri fit tank
  • Nike Pro dri fit compression shorts
  • Adidas sweatband.

Also please note the pigtail buns!

WIW Hotel Edition

So last night/today I’m in Birmingham and my coworkers and I went to dinner and my job was footing the bill. We went to an interesting grill/steak house. I had a yummy salad and one glass of wine and a baked potato…eeek. It could have been worse, but it could have been better too. However money’s been tight lately and it was nice to splurge since I wasn’t paying.

So according to the scale I’m up a poundish which is fine (I also didn’t drop the kids off at the pool this morning – I literally laughed outloud typing that, I spent a good minute trying to figure out how to write that and then Jessica Simpson circa being on newlyweds saying that came to mind).

I plan on doing measurements tonight when I get home (post 5 mile run) which I’m really looking forward to. I’m gonna weigh myself on friday for a more accurate pre-race weight and hopefully I’ll be in the 195/4 range.

This week: 196.8
Last week: 195.something I can’t see it on my BB.
