Feeling the beat

Made it to my first RPM (spin) class in AAAAGES. Even when I was a Golds member in 2012-2014 I wasn’t going much to RPM. The last year I lived in Alabama I was obsessed with RPM, well really the instructor Mitch (who I still adore). It was my go to cross training while marathon training for LA. I’ve struggled with finding good instructors or good fits for me. Tonight I made it to my old Golds location by work and really liked the instructor. I’m hoping to get to class the next few weeks while my Wednesdays are open.

WIW & Monthly Measurements

2 weeks ago: 195.2

Today: My scale read both 194.8 and 195.2 (I did see 192.6 on Friday).

I’m honestly not taking stock in ANYTHING this scale says because it’s been so inconsistent. My new Fitbit Scale should be here between now and the 17th. Fingers crossed it will be here for next week’s WIW.

Monthly Measurements

  • Hips (under belly): 44 – 43.5 (-0.5)

Small adjustments

I have to say cutting back to running only 3x a week after running 4x a week for marathon training (and most training plans) has been delightful. I don’t feel so much pressure to screw my schedule around to find time to run on a day of decent temperatures (or milage I won’t hate on a treadmill). I actually am finding myself looking FORWARD to running after 2 or 3 days off.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have 1-2 full blown rest days a week, but I’ve really been hitting fitness classes hard at my gym the past 5 weeks since I rejoined. I am trying to get to classes 2-3x a week and some days it’s for back to back classes. Like last night was 60 min of Body Pump and then 30min of CRX which is an ab workout.

And yoga. My job offers excellent free yoga 2x a week during lunch and since it started 2 years ago I’ve made an effort to go at least 1x week, but now I’m committed to going 2x a week unless I literally can’t make it. These days are like “bonus workouts” because it’s during the workday and I don’t need to shower (I just bring a change of clothes). Work also started offered a Pilates/Barre fusion class. This class is on Tuesdays which is harder on my schedule, but I can make it next week and I’m excited to try it out.

Just pulled the trigger on the Fitbit Aria scale.

E-bay has been my go-to place lately and I found an E-Bay shop selling them for $89.95 with free shipping. I really like all the stats and I like how it syncs with my Fitbit app. Plus I’ve been very happy with my previous Fitbit products. Stay tuned!

Snowercise

After a cold and my cortisone shot that derailed exercise MLK weekend I was determined to not let snow derail me further. Let’s recap:

Thurs 1/21: yoga at work and 7 miles on the treadmill

Fri 1/22: 4 miles outside pre-snow

Sat 1/23: climbed the stairwells on T’s 15 story building for 45 minutes then did laps in his hallway for another 45 minutes. Aka over 75 flights and 10K steps

Sun 1/24: mixed up stairwells and hallways for 1.5 hours for another 75 flights and 10K steps (every time I reached T’s floor I’d walk the hallway)

Mon 1/25: my hamstrings were tight so I walked up a flight then walked the hall up and down the building for an hour. Then I did flow (yoga) and hard core abs Pump DVDs (T even some some hard core abs with me).

Tues 1/26: went to the gym for 6 treadmill miles.

Now I’m in Massachusetts for 1.5 days. Plan to knock out 9 miles today!

Called it

11:15am – Work already called a snow day for tomorrow!

6:25pm – Fed gov’t called a snow day for tomorrow. T and I continue our snow day funsies!
