Throwback to November 2010 when I got my Measuring Life tattoo!
Measuring Life has been my mantra/motivator since Jan 2010 when I got a grip on my health and fitness. It was inspired by the song Seasons of Love from Rent. One of the first things I measured was how many cups of coffee I drank (I love coffee), but then I started measuring miles, workouts, etc.
Didn’t get a chance to post this since September hit. I’m glad that at the end of the day I’m basically starting the new academic year where I started the summer weight wise and looking forward to fighting the good fight!
When your manicure matches your workout pants ??♀️??

On a related/unrelated note to the pictures, I went to the dermatologist yesterday for a body scan/wellness check up. I last went 4 years ago, which was only the 2nd time I’d gone in my adult life.
.
I want to make sure I am living a wellness life fully. I hate doctors too, but it’s good to know what’s going on and make any adjustments you may need to keep your precious body running or confirm that everything is good like my check did yesterday!
.
I wanted to post all the Baz Luhrmann “Everybody’s Free (to wear sunscreen)” lyrics, but it is a surprisingly long song, so if encourage you to give it a quick google today!

Here’s a little #transformationtuesday Auburn Game Day edition!
First collage is 2010-2017 and the other two are from 2006; 2008-2010.
I interned at AU in summer 2006 and then worked there full time from 2008-2012. It’s the place where I started my fitness journey and will always be special to me.
Plus my favorite color is orange so any excuse to wear it and be surrounded by orange was always a thrill!
This cycle is so true! Each really feeds into one another. Even just 2 weeks ago I was in a funk due to work demands which interfered with exercise and eating well, which then made me talk super negatively to myself and therefore I felt terrible. Thankfully I’m back to this cycle and hoping I don’t get derailed for a while!

Awesome afternoon catching up while hiking 6.75 miles with my bestie! I was able to find us a great spot to meet up halfway between us thanks to hikingproject(dot)com.
This was a perfect warm up for the Urban Hiking class that I’m teaching again that starts on Saturday!
I did my first back to back Body Combat and Body Pump classes in a whiiile! I burned about 800 calories and felt freaking fantastic.
Actually after the first class I was going to move my mat to a different spot in the room and a woman who walked in was like “oh you can leave it and I’ll take your spot.” To which I replied “I’m actually staying for this class too. She was like “wow, good for you!”
.
PS – College Football is back and Auburn is my team!
I am SO glad my busy season of work is over, running an all out sprint basically from June 1 to Sept 1 is exhausting on many levels. This week has been the first week since my brief reprieve in July when I’ve been able to wake up an hour early and have that hour for ME.
*I preset my coffee maker so I can wake up to coffee and grab a cup first thing (well after chugging a glass of water to get my system going)
*Read for 10-15 minutes
*Review/update my schedule for the day/week
*Write/review goals for the week/day
*Usually try to take an action step towards at least one of the goals
*Catch up social media and post on here
*Categorize blog posts on my tumblr (I’ve been tagging all 3,100 posts into categories working from now back, I’m currently in Fall 2011 and need to get to be beginning which was January 2010).
Then before I know it my alarm is going off to remind me to get ready for work, grab my breakfast and lunch for the day and head out the door. It’s my own version of a goddess/diva hour and I can’t recommend taking an hour for yourself to start your day enough!
I am far too verbose for 59 seconds, but thought I’d share a quick video check in about the comfort of real talk. I’m so fortunate to have a number of outlets and gabbing with friends over lunch is a favorite. Find your people both in real life and in corners of the internet, empathy is powerful stuff…
