After a week of work travel (I had 40 hours home in the middle) I come back to a clean house, laundry done, and a delicious dinner cooking. How’d I get so lucky?! ?
WIT
So between airport and travel eats, retaining water from flying and my period I clocked in at:
- 197.4 on my home scale
- 199.4 at weight watchers
It’s about a 4lb change from last week. I know some of this is from travel and period bloat. I feel way puffier/fluffier today than I did even yesterday morning.
I ran 2x while away and did over 9 miles two of the days between even just conference walking. I’m headed to body pump and body combat express (30 min) tonight then off to Philly for work again for the weekend. I’m teleworking on Monday with plans to food prep and reset.
Airport Eats
I’m waiting in the Atlanta Airport for my (delayed) connection flight home following my work conference.
In San Antonio itself I did a pretty good job at make good choices and was purposeful and intentional with my indulgences.
Even my early morning flights to San Antonio weren’t bad because I knew I had yummy Texas food to look forward to so I stuck to fruit, yogurt, and a string cheese. (For the record I ate so much fruit this week in an effort to snack healthily).
But flying home has been tough. I was in an unfamiliar airport with only a few options and needed to eat breakfast. And now in Atlanta (where I used to fly in/out of a ton) I couldn’t resist Atlanta Bread. The California Avocado sandwich was always my airport go to. I knew it’d be bad so I told myself I’m not going to look for Atlanta Bread, but of course as soon as I get to Terminal C, there it is! So I look up California Avocado on the weight watchers app – 30 points!!! So I keep walking and my options aren’t much better.
So I walk back and see you can do a choose 2. So I got half a California Avocado sandwich and half of a house salad with just a baby drizzle of dressing and a banana. So it’s an 18pt travel lunch that I feel some shame over, but then I remember it’s not a 30 point lunch. I’m more mindful. I’d rather have 15 points on a sandwich that I really enjoy and never get then some 10 point plain lunch.
This Mango ice cream has been served here for almost 120 years and it’s UNREAL. Another great rec from @texylvanian (at Menger Hotel)
Bit it on my last .25 mile running on the River Walk this morning. Those damn uneven stones coupled with beautiful scenery were an evil mix! (at The San Antonio River Walk)
Hotel gym selfie #lunchbreak (at San Antonio, Texas)
Preach ?
Chopped cucumber, tomato, avocado and onion salad with turkey and lime juice!
Down another 1 lb this week at weight watchers!
Last Week: 195.6
This week: 194.6
WIW
- Last week (and the week before): 194.6
- Today: 193.0
- Change: -1.6
Wooohoo!! I’m finding that right mix of good eats/alcohol/working out.
However on Sunday I leave for about a week of work travel. Sun-Wed in San Antonio and then Fri-Sun in Philly. I’ll packing my running shoes, but will be doing almost zero cooking and meal prep so i’m hoping I don’t gain.
What’s your best advice for eating out/work travel dining?
