Beach Run

I’m off to the beach to go run on the boardwalk. When I was here in August I didn’t get a chance to do this so I’m pleased to do it now. Today is only a 2 mile run, but I think the salty ocean air will be good for my soul!

This afternoon I’m going to pick up my race packet – I’m really excited to check out all the swag.

P.S. My friend and I went to Josie’s East for dinner last night thanks to @94Monkeys suggestion and it was SOOOO GOOD! I will for sure go back 🙂

Call Me Crazy

So even though my first half marathon is this weekend, I signed up for my second half today. It’s on October 30th in New Orleans.

I was going to wait until after this weekend to make sure I was up for it, but for a few reasons I decided to register today:

  • The registration increased by $15 after Sept 30
  • I plan to take the week after my race a little easy, but in hopes of running a full this spring I have lots of long runs ahead of me
  • I feel great – mentally and physically. Sunday’s race is only going to increase both
  • Along the lines of my previous 2 points – Theodora decided to run her half because SHE COULD. and I CAN and WILL!

Does this mean I can say I ran a Full Marathon in October? 😛

I’m bringing sexy back

Apparently Fall has come to the south, well at least for a day or two. It rained here for a day and a half and brought the temps down so I went out for a 6 mile run tonight. My last “long” before my half. Now it’s all 3 and 2 milers.

It’s crazy to think that it was just the end of June when I first ran 6 miles and hated every second of it. I never thought I’d be where I am. This run was great, especially the second half. I was just in the zone. I also tried 2 new energy gels a Lemon-Lime and a Tangerine. MUCH better than the Vanilla and Strawberry-Banana ones I had previously. So a word to the wise stick with citrus gels.

Distance: 6.11 miles

Time: 1:06:34

Pace: 10:52 min/mile

Calories: 857

I was surprised my pace wasn’t faster, but then again I had to wait to cross several streets. I am SO ready for the half. GAME ON.

Socks @one-twenty-five

image one-twenty-five replied to your photo: If you don’t own proper running socks – stop what…

Ps I bought proper socks this weekend because of this post 🙂 And they rocked my socks (tehehe, me so funny) off, in this morning’s run.

Yay glad you took the plunge. My poor toes and heels were getting so beat up and I OWED it to my feet!

I also bought a compression fit pair last week that I am trying out tonight.

I also thinks these are awesome looking socks (if I can find quarter length), but haven’t found them locally yet. The toe structure looks really comfy!

Sore – YAY

So this morning was the first time in a while that I woke up feeling sore from a workout. It must of been Mr. 365to30’s preachin’ that made me go into beast mode in the weight room. I wish I could remember all the proper names for the things I did (I was too busy usually curing to myself while my former trainer was telling me the names of things).

Regardless I feel sore, but in a good way. I’m headed to go lay out by the pool in a bit (boo yeah living in Alabama where it is still “summer) and I’m going to attempt some laps!

If you don’t own proper running socks – stop what you are doing right now and go out and buy them.

I bought a 3 pack of Nike Dri-Fit Socks for $12 and oh my they were worth every penny. Cushion, arch support, Left/Right specific. Amazing.

**Editors Note: I have the quarter length socks so they stick out a little above the shoe, I don’t like the no show ones, but they are the only one I could get a pic of.

Below is the description from Nike.com:
