Got my workout in on this snow day. Climbed stairwells for an episode of Serial and walked the hallway for another episode!

3 weeks into my fitness journey I dreamed of running a 5K. Oh how far I’ve come!
Braved the outdoors for 4 pre-blizzard miles. Now it’s time to hunker down with my boys! Stay safe everyone!

Tonight I plan to run as many miles as I can stand on the treadmill (shooting for 6-8, but ugh treadmills).
T is buying supplies – I made him a shopping list and grouped things by where he’d find them in the store.
Tomorrow I plan on dropping Freddie and my stuff off at T’s apartment before work so in the case that we close early or snow on my commute I can just drive straight to his place as opposed to stopping by my place (which is not on the way) to get Freddie and my stuff. I figure I’ll add an extra 30 minutes to my morning commute as opposed to Lord know what to my evening commute (it took some people 2-3 hours to get home last night in 1 inch of snow who left after 6pm).
I also plan on bringing my sneakers and ipod so I can do stairs this weekend since leaving the apartment will not be likely. T’s building is 15 floors – I’m sure I could rack up quite a bit.
Update:
Ran 7 miles on the treadmill while listening to Serial!
T braved the stores and got 85% of the items on the shopping list, I was able to pick up the rest.
My college already announced it is closed for tomorrow so I can sleep in and drive to T’s. He has to work until noon.
I’m hoping to knock out 10,000 steps each day this weekend, even if it’s just climbing stairwells.

My sister just got a slot teaching Body Pump at a NYSC! It’s 6:30am on Mondays, but you gotta start somewhere. I’m insanely proud of her. She just got her certifications before the holidays.
We have very different bodies and have had very different fitness/weight loss journeys. I am BEYOND curious to see her as an instructor – so if any of you are NYSC members and go on the upper east side – message me!
Went to the sports podiatrist this morning (I saw him first in 2012 between marathons).
They took x-rays of both feet. My right one has been the painful one the past 6 months, but in 2012 it was my left so he wanted to look at them both.
He believes over time I overcompensated for my left foot issues, by over-stressing my right foot. He was asking me to rate my pain levels. We talked through the pain management techniques I’ve already tried/use: foot roller, spikey hard ball, night boot, icing, cushioned/high support running shoes, etc.
With my half marathon 10 weeks out he recommended we try a cortisone shot or an oral steroid. I bucked up and took the shot approach since I’ve rather treat the issue directly than take an oral med which may impact my otherwise well-functioning body.
He numbed my foot with a cold spray and then shot a giant needle with tons of fluid (cortisone) into my foot (I may have 4 tattoos on my feet alone, but I’m still a giant baby about shots). He told me it’ll be numb and sore today. (I of course feel like I’ve been bitten by a radio active spider and am convinced it’s screaming through all my veins causing mayhem). He also advised I take a few days off from running.
He recommended “Super Feet” brand arch support inserts, but he’s going to have his staff check my insurance to see if they would cover custom ones (they’ll call me next week).
I also remembered to ask this this time (unlike in 2012) about the purple underside of one of my toes. It’s been purple-y for YEARS. He said it’s a blood vessel lesion – most likely from my two toes squeezing together (from running, but also just shoes in general). He gave me some gel toe caps to wear (which I actually have a few and never used them). He didn’t seem too concerned, he said it was ever cut or something it would bleed a lot, but otherwise it’s just more of a nuisance.
Check YO health. Last week I was at the GYN (all my results came back normal), this week was the podiatrist, and now I’m about to call to schedule a dental check up/cleaning for February!

JUST ordered one for my office. I have a Macbook – wireless keyboard and mouse at work!
BOOM!
T and I officially registered for the half marathon in VA Beach on 3/20! I’ve heard great things about this race. I’m hoping for a PR (Sub 2:10) and this will be T’s half marathon debut!
