Pedestrian

Being at my mom’s on Long Island and car-less is annoying at times, but I generally make it work. Trains are helpful as is waking.

It’s interesting I’ve been a runner for nearly 2 years, but walking seems so foreign. Remember when we used to walk around in giant herds in junior high and high school before we could drive? I also walked a lot in college and grad school since I lived on campus and rarely had to leave.

Living in both Texas and Alabama the past 4+ years has limited my walking as a means of transportation drastically. So much stuff is far apart and it’s not the culture (obesity rates anyone?).

Clearly when you are in NYC you do a lot of walking which I love. However walking around Long Island is strange. I’m nearly at my destination now – starbucks for coffee and free wifi (to apply for jobs). I enjoyed my mile-ish walk and typing this post at the same time. Have you walked for transportation lately?

NYC Fitblr Meetup – DATE

It looks like THIS UPCOMING Monday or Tuesday works best for most as well as Dec 28 and 29.

I’d love to try for next week so we can perhaps have a follow up in December.

I can do whatever since I’ll be on VACAY 😛

Ladies, please message me with your e-mail address so we can get an e-mail chain going as well as a time/location suggestion.

Let’s make it happen!

😀

NYC Fitblr Meetup – Last Call

UPDATE: I posted this a week or two ago and wanted to make sure people saw it. I looks like after December is best for people. I’m closing the Poll tomorrow, so please let me know if you can make it!

Calling all NYC fitblrs and those near NYC.

I will be at my Mom’s on Long Island for some time around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have casually mentioned organizing a meet up last year, but I’m committed because you guys have been such a big part of my life now for 1.5 years and I would love nothing more that to continue grow our relationships. Especially when I hope to move back to the northeast ASAP. Please fill out the doodle poll and based on which date(s) are popular we can go from there.

There are additional instructions on the doodle. It’s open to anyone who will be in the NYC area or willing to come to NYC area over the holidays!

Time Zone Race Woes

I’ve been so busy being heartsick that I haven’t been able to bask in the fact that I’m running my 4th half marathon this weekend!

No joke, I feel a PR coming. I feel good, strong and have a lot of emotions to burn. It’s taken everything in me to keep to my perscribed 2m and 3m tapers this week. I want to run. Run. RUN.

The only downside about the half is that it starts at 7am (yuck) IN ANOTHER TIME ZONE (double yuck).

I live like 20 miles into the central time zone (which I actually love – having tv on a hour earlier is the bomb). The race is 20 miles into the eastern time zone. So if the race starts at 7am – it’s really 6am my time. I also need to be there early for  race-day packet pick up and drive the 50 minutes there. Which all means I’ll need to set my alarm Saturday for 3:30am. yikes! I’ll file this under Runner Problems.

Hello there! I just read an article that said there was a shooting on Halloween on Bourbon Street and I want to make sure you’re okay!! ~Angie

Thanks for your concern! I am safe and sound. I was indeed out at a bar on Bourbon Street when the first (of FOUR) shootings took place. We we heard rumor of the shootings we took that as our cue to leave. We heard lots of sirens, but didn’t see anything. Thoughts and prayers to those who died and were injured.

Forgot to post this on Friday. This was the dress I bought 6 weeks ago (aka pre-breakup) to wear to Wiley’s brother wedding. I put the dress on Friday night to see how much better it fit now and to see just good I would have looked in it. I hope I have an occasion to wear it soon.

Being back in NOLA is awesome. Ran 3.1 miles along the Riverwalk this morning.
