Went into the grocery store like this to grab a few things because I’m a sweaty gym monster! #mindyabizniss
Month: January 2013
I’ve been thinking about an hourglass tattoo for quite sometime.
Partially inspired by the Anna Nalick lyric from Breathe – "Life’s like an hour glass glued to the table" and it also meshes nicely with my MeasuringLife concept – which as you may recall I’ve already had inked on my foot since ‘10
No sure when, and not sure where, but I’d love one. The first pic is especially awesome because it incorporates the infinity symbol.
Dining hall yummies – wish I had a meal plan, such great options I’d eat here everyday!
BUSY, but working hard
Hey folks – it’s the start of spring semester here and trust me faculty/staff are always busier than students this time of year. I’ve been MIA from tumblr, but I’m still eating well and working hard.
Trainer Dan was giving my kettle bell swings and squats while using a heavy bag major props last night. I’m know I’m getting stronger and increasing how much weight I work with. Hope to come up for air soon.
PS – I have date #3 tomorrow night 😉
Lose Your Pain
Yet again I have more to post about from this past Sunday’s sermon, enough though it’s more like a story from a very engaging pastor.
This week’s topic from his “Biggest Loser” series was: Lose Your Pain – which he really meant as Persevering
He talked about weight loss and his own personal battles. He said in weight watchers they said people are programmed to be hungry, it’s a part of life, but you need to endure the pain and discomfort of being hungry to reach your goal of weight loss.
He also then talked about long distance runners. He talked about how the only way the reward and accomplishment of running a marathon is to learn to deal with the pain that comes with miles and miles of training and disciplined diet. He also said he watched “Run Fat Boy Run” recently which I immediately added to my Queue.
He talked about how pain is a bond – shared human emotion. We may never truly KNOW the pain someone else has, but we know our own pain and can connect.
He also showed the Kenny Chesney music video – “There goes your life” to illustrate different types of pain.
Notable quotes
- “Pain in a reminder we’re alive”
- “Pain in an indicator of change”
- “Growing pains mean moving forward.”
- “We emerge on the other side of pain different people, better people."
- "Sometimes pain is a gift. It reminds you that you’re alive and allows you to trust God and learn who you are.”
The service closed with the Goo Goo Dolls song – “Let Love in” These lyrics spoke to me: “The end of fear is where we being, the moment we decide to let love in.”
Growing up, I thought falling in love was just something people did to distract themselves from dying. It was like getting a tattoo; having a boyfriend or a girlfriend was a way of branding yourself and letting people know that you were valued and that you were important. There was something inside of you that made you better than the average person.
Now I know that, in many ways, I was right from the very beginning. But the kind of love I understood when I was younger is not necessarily the “correct” kind of love. That kind of love is paper-thin and it will wash away. However, every time you choose to love someone despite the bullshit, you are making it stronger, you are painting a fuller picture. By choosing to love, you are accepting the flaws and ugliness that comes along with something beautiful. You are understanding just how life works.
Date #2
Not ready to disclose too much about my fantastic date with M last night, but it involved watching Biggest Loser while talking about protein shakes and foam rolling.
I have a make out hangover…
I wonder how many calories I burned yesterday???
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
