Dr. Oz Recipes

I never do anything super fad or regimented but I leave Friday for a reunion weekend at my college and I want to look lean.

I’m feeling strong from Insanity, so I want to compliment it with even better nutrition. I’ve been doing the Dr Oz 3 day detox cleanse since Saturday since I was in recovery week of Insanity. I’ve already been doing breakfast smoothies so all smoothies/juices for 3 days hasn’t been bad plus I “forced” myself to finally buy almond butter, coconut oil and some other fancy things that I’m obsessed with already.

Since I move onto Month 2 of Insanity tonight, starting tomorrow I’m following Dr Oz’s 3+3=3 pounds of fat loss recipes. Eggs, bean burgers, sweet potato fries and 1 dinner smoothie for 3 days. YES please!

I’ve already been a green tean drinking fiend and peeing like whoa!

No Regrets

I read this in Elle magazine this week and it made me feel much better about the choices I’ve made in my 20s – especially as 30 will be here in August for me!

Team GRIND at Tough Mudder Gunstock Mountain

If you have a few minutes watch this video of a few phenomenal men and women that I went to college with. Tim Morris was in a near fatal car accident in 2007 leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Tim has fought tooth and nail to take back control of this body. Tim and a bunch of guys I have the pleasure of knowing took on Tough Mudder 2 weeks ago and made a human ladder to get Tim up the wall. Amazing video – I just had to share it.

Measurements 4 weeks into Insanity

Despite all the chaos I’ve been good with insanity I’m 28 days into the program on day 24 of exercises. Numbers are generally good. The first number is May 6th AKA 4 weeks ago – the second number is today.

  • Chest (under breasts): 35.5 / 34.75
  • Smallest Waist 35 / 34
  • Belly Button: 42.5 /  40.75
  • Hips (under belly): 42 / 42.5
  • Neck: 13 / 13
  • Mid Upper Arm: 11.5 / 12.5
  • Upper Arm: 13 / 13.5
  • Wrist: 6 / 6
  • Upper Thigh: 26.75 / 27
  • Mid Upper Thigh: 21.5 / 20.5
  • Above Knee: 17.25 /18.25
  • Mid Calf: 15.5 /15.25

Regardless of the scale and measurements, both of which I am happy with, I feel really good physically. I feel strong.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes

Thanks for all the notes and messages after my post last week. I’ve had a really hard 8 weeks with the last 4 being almost unbearable at times. I am so passionate about my work and to work with others who are not is challenging. I’ve also had my right hand at work on maternity leave these past 10 weeks – I didn’t realize just how much a of a team we were until she was gone. Thankfully she’ll be back 2 weeks from today!

I’ve had some really low points lately, but thanks to my friends (both near and far) and a much needed weekend of doing only things I wanted to do (pedicure, visits with friends, dvr, sleeping, yoga, insanity workout, church and some MAJOR cleaning/organizing/tossing) I am in a much better place. I still a ways to get back to where I was (or better), but I’m optimistic
