I’ve been listening to a great self help/motivational podcast this last week by @cscdanmason called “Life Amplified” on iHeartRadio. Here are some quotes from his first few podcasts that really resonated with me.
I’m mad at myself for taking 6 months to get around to listening to it. But I know I’m now ready to hear his message and I’ve been so inspired.
I even was part of a free webinar he hosted tonight. I’m thinking about taking the plunge and investing in an expert mentor and a support group he’s leading about finding your purpose. Stay tuned!
Month: May 2018
Here’s a little #transformationtuesday for ya. It’s been a series of ups and downs the past 2 years in particular.
Nov 2016 is the top left, but then as you’ll see in next set I dropped some weight, put it on, dropped again before putting some of it back. The other 3 pics are from Dec 2017 in this first set.
The 2nd set of pics are in order from June 2016 in the top left to 3 from spring of 2017. The pic of me in shorts was Oct 2017 which soon after I fell off the #weightwatchers wagon masterfully. However the bottom right picture is from today.
The journey to success is far from linear with all things, but especially weight loss for me! Yet I feel this go-round is different, something in me has changed since the start of 2018 and I’m excited to see where things can go from here!
Day 2 out on a friend’s boat for a girls camping weekend to celebrate our friend A’s birthday! Weekends like this nourish my soul!
Lake and camping girls weekend!

I did a thing! I’ve been toying for a while with making a health & fitness Instagram and finally did it last night! I am 100% not leaving my Tumblr community, but I’ve been a spectator in the health & fitness world of Instagram for a long time and I want to join in while keeping it separate from my personal account. I feel like this Tumblr is a mix of ALL of me, but I plan for my Measuring Life Instagram to be more focused on health & fitness.
I’ll be doing a mix of retrospective posts from the last E I G H T years of blogging and well as current content – most of which I’ll post here too. So feel free to follow me on Instagram too or not, but wanted to share.
FUN FACT: today is the 8 year anniversary of my moving this blog from Blogspot to Tumblr. I started this blog in January 2010 on Blogspot which was a platform I used for some other focused blogging (the 1st summer I spent in Alabama for an internship, poetry and short stories I’d written over the years, or going through my quarter life crisis years). I was on Tumblr, but I was using it mostly to post songs and music videos I liked. It wasn’t until March 2010ish that I learned about the Fitblr community and I knew this was where I belonged.
So crazy to see the progress I’ve made with this Fitbit data. When I got my new fitbit in October my cardio fitness rating was 33-37 aka average. I’ve seen it go from average to average-good to good and now good-very good! Also -0.6lbs on the weight watchers scale today! Glad that I was able to get back on track after my Pittsburgh weekend!

After a cookie filled weekend in Pittsburgh for a wedding and missing a few workouts I’m totally okay with this!
Bought these workout capris at the bookstore of my undergrad on clearance a long while back while there for a reunion, 2014 maybe? They were a ladies large and I thought I could fit them given I was Triathlon training at the time. Alas I forgot college gear “ladies” generally fit 18 year old bodies. They were embarrassing tight and went to the back of the drawer. At some point I pulled them out to try on and I could barely pull them up. Womp, back to the back of the drawer.
After an out of town weekend and T away for work this week we’re behind in laundry (T does most of the household laundry ?). I searched my workout bottom drawer and had a sea of full length pants or shorts. Then I spotted these lone capris and decided to give them a try. Success! Wore them on a walk and to Body Pump class!
Talk about a NSV!
Fun weekend at a wedding T was in!
High: I felt super cute and T looked SO handsome in a 3 piece suit and bowtie!
Low: I ate far too many cookies at the infamous Pittsburgh weddings cookie tables.
It’s #RaceForHopeDC weekend and I’m missing it for the first time in 9 years ? so I knew I had to get in a 5K while in Pittsburgh! T didn’t run, but still repped!
