Not a bad way to start my morning! I was invited to hike with another group on campus today and it was lovely! I haven’t done a pre-work workout in a whiiiiile!
Month: September 2018
Never forget ❤️
9/11/01 was my freshman year of college. I was a recently minted 18 year old from Long Island, NY. My parents and I had just crossed the bridge to CT less than 3 weeks earlier to drop me off at college and I remember taking in the skyline one last time before my college journey began. Little did I know this would be the last time I saw the towers.
My college community pulled together that day and I believe that day really connected me to my university. So many of us were from the greater NYC area. Thankfully I didn’t know anyone personally who passed, but many in my wider circle lost loved ones.
I remember my Dad coming to get me the weekend after 9/11, crossing that same bridge and seeing ground zero still smoking in the distance. For so many years 9/11 was a New York event for me, however moving to the DC area in 2012, I gained a new perspective. In the years since, I’ve been to all 3 memorial sites, each unique and powerful. Today I remember all who died that day and all those who lost loved ones that day or as a result of that day ❤️
Okay it finally feels appropriate to eat all the pumpkin! Starting with pumpkin purée and pumpkin spice in my Greek yogurt!
I can’t believe next Sunday is our last group coaching call. I’m going to miss our weekly video meetings with @cscdanmason.
I’ve definitely seen the differences and growth in these women and in myself, but I’m even more excited to see where we all are in 3/6/12 months!

First Urban Hiking class of the semester! I have the absolute privilege of teaching a Health and Fitness class through the College of Arts & Sciences called Urban Hiking. I taught it in the Spring Semester and it was pretty much my favorite thing ever! It was great to meet my class today and look forward to getting to know them over our 5 Saturdays today – hopefully we’ll have better weather going forward!
Bonus shot out to my friend and former grad student who I recommended to teach the 2nd section the department decided to offer this semester since it’s been so popular!
Took the metro to work today since we’re heading to a Nats game tonight, instead of taking the shuttle to the metro stop, I’m walking the mile!

A reminder to follow me on Instagram since I’ve been using it as my main posting hub lately AKA shame self-promotion ?
Throwback to November 2010 when I got my Measuring Life tattoo!
Measuring Life has been my mantra/motivator since Jan 2010 when I got a grip on my health and fitness. It was inspired by the song Seasons of Love from Rent. One of the first things I measured was how many cups of coffee I drank (I love coffee), but then I started measuring miles, workouts, etc.
Didn’t get a chance to post this since September hit. I’m glad that at the end of the day I’m basically starting the new academic year where I started the summer weight wise and looking forward to fighting the good fight!
