This is what hosting a housewarming party in a 3 story townhouse and giving tons of tours looks like according to @fitbit #latergram
Just subscribed to Wrist Society after hearing about it on “What’s Trending” on my morning radio show a few weeks ago.
They are men’s watches which are TOTALLY my jam, but you get a new watch a month for a $29 monthly subscription fee!
Here’s my referral link if you are interested too – may also be a good gift for a friend who has a strong #wristgame
WIT
Due to yesterday’s brain fart, I weighed in today:
Last week: 201.0
Today: 199.3
Change: -1.7
HOLLER! I know the scale won’t always move in the direction I want or as fast as I want, but I’m motivated and committed to be aware of my choices!
WIWhoops
Damnit, I forgot to weigh myself today. I guess that happens when you only got on the scale for the first time in months last week.
HOWEVER, I think part of the reason I forgot was because I got up early to do the Shred DVD (Level 1 Day 8) before work since I have plans later. Threw we off my usual routine. However I shall weigh in tomorrow, not that numbers mean everything. I already feel better!

Weekend rundown
Friday
- Shred: day 4
- Target to pick out some Christmas decorations
Saturday
- Made some home decor purchases at Hobby Lobby
- Went to a Christmas tree farm in hopes to cut down our own tree, but none of the many left were quite right (we wanted tall, but skinny yet full) so we bought a pre-cut one
- Successfully got the tree 20 miles home and put it up (after multiple attempts to get it straight and find the “front” of the free)
- Put lights on the tree – colored lights which I conceded to T on and still feel meh about
- Cleaned/organized house phase 1 in prep for our Holiday Housewarming party next Saturday
Sunday
- Went to like 4 stores in hopes to find a silver star tree topper (fail, so I ordered one online)
- Put cute red and white lights up outside around the front door and a glittery red bow on our shed
- Swept up all the leaves outside the house, trimmed a tree branch out front that annoyed me, pulled weeds
- Shred: day 5
- Hit 10,000 steps for the second time this week
- Cleaned/organized house phase 2 in prep for our Holiday Housewarming party on Saturday
- Decorated the tree while watching my favorite Disney Christmas sing along and Rudolph which we DVRed
News I already know
Working out and eating well for a few days in a row MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER. Also it makes you want to continue to work out and eat well.
Taking small steps in the right direction can easily turn into bigger steps. I was quickly able to turn unnecessary sweets and alcohol – they won’t make me feel better and I rather keep up my momentum.
I’ll keep my alcohol indulgences to the weekends and the sweets for only when I really will savor it.
Gobble Gobble
Since T and I spent Thanksgiving apart this year to be with own families he decided he wanted us to do a Thanksgiving together when I got back in town last weekend.
In his excitement T went to go to the grocery store to get said turkey on Black Friday and there was only one turkey, so he bought it. That turkey was nearly 24 pounds. T did made a lovely turkey (his first time), but needless to say we have A LOT of leftovers.
We’ve been eating quite well, we’ve made:
- Turkey and Rice Soup
- Turkey-Bacon-Avocado grilled cheeses (with cranberry yummmm)
- Turkey Tetrazzini
- Mason jar salads with Turkey
- and obvious turkey leftover sandwiches with fixin’s
I got most of the recipes from Delish. Here is the soup which has been our favorite!
Weight-related real talk
Feel free to skip this post if it’s not your jam.
Back in June I decided I was going to try to lose 4 pounds for
my wedding and then just maintain my weight where I was. You can read that post
here although it’s really long and dithery (also tw: wedding talk I guess). Well,
I never ended up losing those 4 pounds but I kept my weight right around where
I was in time for the wedding. Surprisingly, the threat of not being able to
fit into the nicest dress I’ve ever owned was a strong motivator. (Maybe this
doesn’t happen that much but I came across MANY stories of people with
last-minute dress woes.)Since the wedding I’ve gained about 10 pounds in a
combination of general laxity, stress eating (mostly job related and election
related) and binge eating (same). I don’t like it. To be fair, this is somewhat
new territory for me, as in my life I haven’t been the person to freak out over
10 or so pounds; mostly I would just gain weight and then be in denial about it.
But here is my thought process, first negative motivators, and then positive
ones.
I am one to rarely reblog, but tumblr and being part of community is so important. I’ve felt so alone in falling off the fitness and wellness wagon. I’ve felt embarrassed and depressed. However knowing that I am not alone it not only comforting, but motivating.
94monkeys is someone I care about and I’ve followed her journey via tumblr since summer 2010. She is someone I’ve gotten to know offline as well (and had the pleasure of going to her wedding, where she looked stunning, not just on the outside, but her soul was radiating). Thank you for sharing, love you!
WIW – the moment of truth
Today: 201.0
OKAY, I can handle that.
I was honestly preparing for something closer to 210.
The last time I weighed myself was September 7 and I was 200.6.
Earlier in 2016 my monthly weights were:
- March: 194.9
- April: 193.3
- May:194.3
- June: 193.2
- July: 196
- Aug: 194.2
Despite feeling like I’ve had fallen off the wagon since we moved in August it’s not insurmountable. I certainly am out of shape and lost “muscle” tone, but just like life you fall down 7 and stand up 8.
Went to yoga today at lunch and when I get home it’s day 3 of Shred!
