I’ve had a SERIOUS workout week

  • 4 miles Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon
  • 8 miles Tues
  • Spin/weight training/yoga Wednesday
  • Weight training and 5 miles Today

It was really hot after work so instead of running outside and then weights I decided too do weights first. It was me and dudes by the weights and I’ll be honest I felt like shoing off a bit especially since I was in my spandex running shorts and I was looking pretty good. Then I headed out to run what was supposed to be 6 miles, but I was NOT feeling it. My legs didn’t want to move. I was half walking and jogging the first half. I debated if I would do 4 miles today and 6 tomorrow (I have 4 scheduled for tomorrow and Saturday as a legit rest day). I decided to split the difference and run 5 today and then do 5 tomorrow. It’s funny once I hit the halfway point and looped back I felt MUUUCH better. Ended up taking 1 hour 33 sec for 5 miles – but I fought hard and my legs were mad at me. Tomorrow only running – 5 miles no weights and Saturday I’m OFF.

COVET.

I really need some new running shoes (I have about 500 miles on my current Nikes) and I stumbled across these Brooks. ORANGE is my favorite color and I’ve always wanted to try Brooks. I found them for $76 (no tax or shipping).

I also found a orange version of the Nikes I already have for $60 (no tax or shipping)

Keep in mind I’m getting Nike Pegasus +27s at the end of April for like $30 from work.

HELP. DO I BUY NEW SHOES? IF SO WHICH?

Wacky Wednesday

Took yesterday off and proceeded to sleep in, run 8 glorious miles and spend the afternoon/night at the boy’s place. I had this morning off so I only came in a little while ago. Didn’t weigh in since I wasn’t home and didn’t post that today is ALL WATER WEDNESDAY! I must admit I did have a Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee this morning since there is a DD by W’s work and I got two while I was in town. I had a 90 mile drive this morning I needed the coffee, but since then it’s been all water.

Taking a rest from running today, but still going to spin class – I’m debating going to yoga class after spin, we shall see.

Have I mentioned that I love my students are in Spring Break so I got to take time off, get things done at work the rest of the week and have my evenings to do as I please!

Still At It

Sorry for the lack of posts – that’s what happens when you are at a conference with 1700 orientation leaders and 200 other orientation professionals from the southeast.

Managed to put in ~4 miles each on Fri, Sat, Sun and I’m going to knock out 4 miles today. The plan was to run 8 today, but my ankles are feeling a little tender.

My students are all in spring break this week so I am looking forward to no post-work commitments and focusing on training. I took this morning off as well as wednesday morning off and all day tomorrow 😛

4@4

I was supposed to run 4 miles tonight, but was unable to due to a commitment I completely forgot about. Tomorrow I’m supposed to drive to Baton Rouge for a conference and meet folks at 5:15AM to depart. The old me would say screw that run, however my plan is to wake up at 4AM and knock out those 4 miles before a quick shower and meeting folks to head to Baton Rouge. Knowing I ran 4 miles will making sitting in a car for 6 hours far less terrible.

WISH ME LUCK!

54 Days and Counting

Officially registered for the Race for Hope 5K in DC on May 1st!

I am stupid excited to be running it again this year. This was the FIRST race I ever ran. And now in the year since my 2010 Race for Hope I will have run 9 races(including 3 half marathons) making 2011 Race for Hope my 11th race.

Last year’s time 33:29

This year I’d LOVE a sub 25:29 min 5K with a secret hope of shaving a full 10 minutes off of last year’s time – which is POSSIBLE, just not probable.

After my half on April 3, I plan to spend the rest of the month working on speed training.

No pressure AT ALL, but if you want to donate – Race for Hope benefits brain cancer research. Brain cancer fortunately has not directly affected me, but my love of American Idol winner David Cook (who lost his brother to brain cancer the night before the the 2009 race) inspired me to get involved. David Cook has been this weird fitness inspiration over the years and I feel very strongly about supporting this cause so close to his heart.

Road ID Light

passthevegetables replied to your photo: Chilly Alabama evening – dri fit tights, headband,…

Where did you get your road id flasher?

It’s a great product from Road ID  – Called the FireFly Supernova

http://www.roadid.com/Common/LearnMore.aspx?PID=13

I also bought a Shoe ID

http://www.roadid.com/Common/LearnMore.aspx?PID=3

I feel much safer running thanks to both products. Peace of mind is well worth it!

One of the many perks of my job is getting new sneakers every year as part of our new student orientation uniform (I don’t get them for free, but I get them for like $40). I haven’t been thrilled with our shoes the past 2 years (asics and HORRID narrow under armor – stick to clothes people) well this year we are getting Nike Air Pegasus+ 27s.

Hollerrrrrr. A good running shoe and Nikes TA-BOOT!

The only problems is I won’t get them until mid-May and I REALLY need some new running shoes before then. I have about 400 miles on my current Nikes and I can tell they’ve lost their mojo.

I’m having a major debate about running shoe options (let’s get real I’m from New York we call them SNEAKERS) however I’ll blog more about that tomorrow.
