Weekend Workouts

This weekend was a great one health-wise.

4 miles on Friday, 3.3 miles Saturday, 3.1 miles and yoga today!

Meanwhile W was here this weekend and I was able to get in workouts and make good food decisions. I ate my variations of food while he ate his, however I did get him to eat spaghetti squash, greek yogurt and baked lays. Small victories!

Now I’m off to improv practice in a bit. Have I mentioned I’m in an improv comedy group? We were really at our prime last year, but everyone’s schedules have been crazy the last few months so practices and shows have been hit or miss. Laughter and being funny is really good for my health too!

Puddle of sweat

I haven’t worked out on a Monday in quite sometime, I guess because Sundays were/are my “long runs” and I’ve rested Monday however due to my schedule right now Tues and Thurs have to be my rest day and my “long runs” are still only single digits right now.Ā

So I went to the gym and it was PACKED. I grabbed a treadmill and knocked out 2 miles before spin class, then went to spin then ran 1 more mile. Since there were so many people at the gym I was soaked BEFORE spin and then spin was packed too. My usual Wednesday class isn’t as busy. I sat in a different spot in the room, but really liked it.Ā

I may been sore, but I feel so alive and tomorrow I rest.Ā

Sunday Centeredness

This morning I went to a different church with a very music oriented service which was awesome. It felt like a concert at times, I really enjoyed it. A bunch of my students were there and I sat with a few of them. I’m planning on going back.

This afternoon I ran a self imposed 10K and then went to yoga. I actually drove to the gym then ran a 5K out and a 5K back before yoga class which was a combo of great poses and great music.Ā

I feel fan-freaking-tastic.

I missed my boyfriend this weekend, but I loved the time to myself. Ā I cleansed my mind, body, spirit and apartment!

OKAY 5K

Ran in a 5K on campus this morning. I have missed the feeling of waking up early to run on a weekend with other crazy racing nuts! I was really anxious about today’s 5K because I know my speed isn’t where it should be.Ā

The weather was beautiful and there was a good turn out for the run. I started at the front of the starting line and overexerted myself the first quarter mile (I was just so excited to be racing) running under a 8min/mile pace. Well the first of many hills kicked my ass, so I slowed down a bit at times, but never stopped to walk. My legs were a bit tight after a 4.5 mile run yesterday, but I pushed through the pain at found myself a solid pace.Ā

I crossed the finish line at 29:09 – I had wanted under 30 minutes, but I secretly would have liked something in the 28 minute range. Considering I fell off the training wagon for a little bit I can’t complain and it just gives me more motivation to push myself.

The 5K was a good start to my “ME” weekend. I had a long to do list and this 5K was a great way to kick off a productive weekend.

Talladega Nights

I’m thinking about running a half marathon at the Talladega Speedway. Yes where they have NASCAR races.

You know I’ve lived in Alabama too long when I am seriously contemplating this race – despite it being so redneck country. It’s on Sunday, April 3rd and it’s only about an hour away from me. I really would love to haveĀ another half under my belt. It actually would be 6 months TO THE DAY of my first half marathon.
