So yesterday I wore my new compression tights and I really enjoyed them for a few reasons. They kept me warm and loose which was good, but what I REALLY liked was that when I wore them the top of my thighs BARELY touched. I mean my upper legs are making some serious progress, but damn I would almost consider wearing those compression tights everyday as pants (sadly some of my tiny students do wear tights as pants – TIGHTS ARE NOT PANTS).

Ouch
My left foot is killing me. It was tender and hurt a little during my run yesterday, but I was determined to push through the pain. Well today it’s like throbbing pain. It’s like the top of my foot. I don’t know what I could have done to it and I have too many runs to get through for a break so I’m hoping I can push through and that it’s nothing major. Luckily I have short runs this week, I know I need to listen to my bode, we shall see.
Icy HOTTTT
Almost my entire lower body is covered in icy hot and it feels glorious!
My 12 mile run was sweet. The weather was cool – similiar to my half marathon weather a few weeks ago. I liked the running tights they kept me cozy…I think I may need a long sleeve running shirt eek!
- distance: 12.56 miles
- time: 2:17:58
- pace: 10:58 mi/min
- cal: 1752
I AM A RUNNER. I sometimes don’t believe it, but I have such wonderful and suportive people in my life that have helped me confirm that I am a runner. At work my students tell about their running or how I inspire them to get up and run. My coworkers encourage me and I have all of you! I’m so thankful today and everyday.
12 miler
Last long run before my half on 10/30 and I’m hopped up on day-quil and cough drops. Let’s see how this goes. And I’m running in new compression running tights!
Gels
I feel like such a badass buying $10 worth of energy gels on my lunch break!
**another full week of interviews at work after a weekend with visitors – I miss you guys!
5K PR
Despite my week(end) of bad fitness/eating I finished the race in under 28 min. The clock said 28:08 but I wasn’t at the front. Sadly there was no timing chips and my ipod and nike sensor died after mile 1 – so I am going to guess that my time was 27:30ish which is over a full minute off my last 5K! Which means my average pace per mile was under 9 minutes!?!?
I’m mad that my ipod died, but I ran my little heart out in 86 degree mid-afternoon Alabama heat. Oh and I REALLY hated running without music – listening to myself pant while running is not motivating!
My next half is under 2 week away, I can’t screw around this week I need to step up my game and this PR is just what I needed!
Wish me luck
Heading out to run a 5K on campus despite the fact that I was out at the bar until 5am! My sister and her friend are in town for the weekend which meant no running and lots of alcohol and bad food. We’ll see how this run goes…
oopsies
I skipped the gym today for 3 reasons:
- I pushed hard yesterday with my 3 hours of exercise.
- I forgot to shave my legs/underarms – normally I don’t care if I miss a few days, but I was worried I’d see the cute bouncer I talked to on Friday!
- One of my former head orientation leaders was in the office as we were closing up. Him and I ended up talking running/races/triathlons etc for nearly an hour after work. He was very supportive of me and my running all summer and we did the early morning parent runs at orientation together (well I went to 2 of 8 and he went to 8 of 8). Him and his twin brother has planned to run a full marathon this fall, but some injuries derailed their training a bit.
All in all I don’t regret my decision. I’m gonna make up this run on one of my rest days later this week – which means it will have to be a pre-work run since my afternoons later this week are pretty booked!
don’t act like you ain’t on beast status either. how many of your facebook friends have run half marathons? this shit ain’t tumblr 😉
WTF
Apparently Nike+ sensor didn’t “save” my half marathon last week. It’s not under workout history not did it sync to Nikerunning.com
I’m pissed. Seriously every freaking other run is there. And I know I “ended” workout because I saw my time and pace.
I’m extra mad because I could totally be at “level GREEN” with the half.
Is there a manual add to Nikerunning?
