First Race of 2015

I finally registered for Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure’s Race for Hope DC 5K

This will be my 6th (!!!!) year running it. This race was my first race EVER back in 2010. Training for this 5K lead to my love of running and initial weight loss.

The race is exactly 1 month from today and I’m excited.

Now I’m sniffing out some sprint triathlons – CB perhaps I’ll join you in August.

I also am a few weeks from officially pulling the trigger on the Dublin Marathon in October. OH SNAP. Funding that trip will probably cut back on my other races this year, but it’s worth it!

AM Run

I got in my first pre-work run in a VERY long time. Note: I am NOT a morning person.

I usually spend Wednesdays at my boyfriend’s place (we call it our “mid-week meet & greet” because we are dorks). He has to be at work 2 hours earlier than I do, so on Thursdays I usually leave when he leaves and go home to sleep for another hour. Well yesterday I had the idea to bring running clothes and instead of sleep RUN. Especially since he lives right next to the 4 mile run trail in Arlington. So I had an epic little 5K this morning and then came home showered/got ready and went to work. Please spring weather STAY, I would love to make these Thursday morning runs part of my routine!

I love getting messages like this!

One of my freshmen year of college roommates is running the Chicago Marathon in October in memory of her ex-boyfriend and a HS friend who both committed suicide ( one in Oct ‘13 and one in Oct ’14). She found it fitting to run the marathon in October to honor them.

I’m pretty sure she is starting from scratching with running/training so I’m glad I can be a resource for her and that she saw me go from non-runner to marathon runner.
