Sweaty Tears

Tonight was my second to last (or possibly last pending on my schedule next week) SPIN class.

I have really enjoyed spin and I’m so glad I was encouraged by many of you over a year ago.

I really love my spin instructors Ria and Mitch. I’m really worried about finding a gym in DC with instructors I like as much as them and class as a convenient time.

Double Digit Miles

FIRST – Congrats to all the RnR New Orleans runners today! I heard it was a great day for a race and I’m VERY jealous of those cool medals.

Today I ran 12 miles. It was my last double digit run before THE MARATHON. I was too casual about today’s run. I didn’t eat enough. I felt like I had to pee for miles and finally stopped to do so. I also felt like I had to go #2 at the end.

It was not a good run. It humbled me. I still feel confident about the marathon, but at the same time it made me realize how I still need to stay focused. It’s a serious undertaking and I need to play to win!

FRESH

I feel like I could run another 20 miles today. I won’t since today only calls for 5 miles, but I feel like I could.

Obviously Sunday post run I was mildly paralyzed and I was a little sore yesterday morning, but I went to spin class last night and feel FANTASTIC TODAY.

Minute to Win it

20 miles = 4:01:35

I was hoping to go sub 4, but it was such a great run I don’t care.

12:04 average pace per mile.

The weather was PERFECT. It was 60 degrees and cloudy. My skin had some sweat on it, but I wasn’t sweaty.

I made a killer playlist and ran the whole run with the exception of my GU walking breaks.

20 freaking miles. It’s unbelievable, but it’s also believable. I worked HARD to get here and it feels amazing to be 3 weeks out from the marathon.

Los Angeles I can’t wait!

In transit

I’m writing this while waiting to fly back down to Alabama. I spent the weekend in the DC area getting acclimated to my soon to be office and campus. I also apartment hunted like whoa.

It was an exhausting long weekend, but very productive. I decided on a condo with an awesome girl in Alexandria, VA near Old Town and the Huntington Metro.

I also squeezed in my training runs, but had to cut back on some mileage. I ran 4 instead of 5 miles on Friday and then 10 instead of 12 miles yesterday. I wish I could have squeezed in full mileage, but this weekend was just SO busy and exhausting.

I have three 5 milers this week and then my 20 MILES this weekend!

Multitask

Just ran 8 miles* while talking to 2 of my best friends on speaker phone.

My pace was closer to 12 min/mi than 11 min/mi but I did get to catch up with them both after a crazy few weeks. They were both impressed (as was I at my ability to talk and run)!

Tomorrow evening I fly to Virginia to do some prelim new job stuff and apartment hunt!

*with this run I surpassed my 200th mile of 2012 😀
