Yay Legs

Ran my 5 miles today in 54:54.  It was the best my legs have felt in a really long time. Yesterday I squeezed in a 3 mile run between work commitments. I ran a new route and explored some new neighborhoods (after nearly 2 years of running the same routes). I’m excited for more exploration this weekend on my 9 miler.

10K

After my disappointing 5K this past weekend I decided to sign up for a 10K on October 22. I’m shifting some training runs around to make it work, but it was only $15 bucks and I feel I need to redeem myself. It’s a morning run and should be a less hilly course (hopefully). Plus 10K is one of my favorite race distances. BOO-YAH

Seeing the stats from my 5K made me feel better about it. My first mile split was ON FIRE (8:25). My second mile split was solid too (9:41). However my 3rd mile was rough (11:23), but hello look at the elevation on that beast.

This was the first 5K put on by a local running store and I’m disappointed they they picked a HORRID course. It was a 5pm race and even though I hadn’t eatten since Noon my stomach HATED the hills. I REALLY TRULY thought I was a going to puke. I was so pissed by the time I approached the finish line.

On the bright side it was fun to run the race with running friends Kathryn and Becky. We all rocked out skirts and fun outfits – one of store employee’s took a picture of us, I hope they post it online. Kathryn cheered for me at the finish line and then we both cheered for Becky when she crossed.

Regardless of the hill and my time I’m freaking PUMPED for my half marathon next month and I plan on making it my bitch!

Skirt Chaser

I’m running a local 5K tomorrow. It’s a 5pm race. I generally run at that time, but I’ve never run an afternoon race before. I’m pretty pumped. The race is also allowing women a 3 minute head start over the men – hence the name Skirt Chaser 5K. I’m stoked to be running this race with a few friends!

Channeling my inner Speedy Gonzales

Running a local 5K this weekend. I’m excited to race, but I know my time will be average. I PRed back in May and haven’t raced since. I did 4 weeks of intense speed training leading up to that 5K. I’m hoping to do some speed work this week. I have 9 minute miles in me – I’m sick of seeing 11 minute miles.

I always struggle between distance and speed. If I was faster that would make the distance go by quicker! I just worry that pushing both and the same time would be a lot of my legs and body.

I know that I can’t fret over speed especially once I officially start marathon training. The goal of the marathon is to finish it injury-free. The goal of every race is really to finish it injury-free, but I know I’m running for time too on 5Ks, 10Ks, and Halfs.
