Your Body is a Wonderland

I have 2 mini posts wrapped into one here.

First: Last night I decided to try on a bunch of dresses in my closet since I have a few events coming up that I need to dress up for. I was BLOWN away by how different these dresses were looking on me. It’s fascinating to see how losing weight through diet first and mainly weightlifting has changed my body as opposed to losing weigh primarily through running and better nutrition.  I even zipped up 2 “Goal” Dresses (including that black and white dress from 2012 posted in this photo collage from a few weeks back). I’m not quite ready to wear them in public, but it’s becoming within reach.

Second: I had a work event this morning where I saw a TON of work people that I haven’t seen in a while, a few folks (with whom I have good relationship/friendships with) commented on how svelte I was looking. It made me feel good and I could see that they were happy that I was so happy. Since I’ve only been working here for ~20 months, most people saw me at some major emotional/mental/physical lows. So it’s great that they are getting to see a me I once was and even better than ever!

I had to wear khaki pants for a work event today. Khakis are something I’ve ALWAYS felt self conscious about wearing. Like no thanks I don’t want to wear flesh colored pants that emphasize my butt, thighs, and hips.

I currently only have one pair – that I’ve worn once maybe, but I pulled them out to wear today – without trying them on. This morning I thought “OMG I haven’t worn these in forever what if they don’t fit or are too tight” (tight khaki pants make me feel THE MOST uncomfortable). Thankfully not only did they fit, but they were a bit baggy.

Not feeling self conscious today was a major NSV for me!

Weight Loss Acknowledgment

I’ve hit the point where my weight loss since Christmas is noticeable. Two times this week a female colleague (both of whom I’m “work friendly” with) commented on my weight loss, but without saying those exact words. They both also noted “not that you weren’t fit before.” I try to accept the compliment and help them feel less awkward giving it because ultimately I appreciate it. My go to is “thanks, it feels good to be back down to “fighting weight””

Re-Learned Lessons

The recent changes in my body have been riveting. I’m back at my lowest weight since summer 2014. I am remembering how different/”easier” some workouts are when you have less body mass and are stronger. For example, rotating hovers – something that used to be so difficult for me and then just this week they felt like a “breeze” – I guess that means I have to start doing them on my toes. The same thing goes for push ups.

It’s almost like coming out of amnesia (i’m guessing), I’ve been getting flooded with memories of when I was able to do a workout (like plank jacks) with “ease.” I feel like I truly repressed them after I was too out of shape/heavier to do those workouts the same way.

The psychological aspects of weight loss never cease to fascinate me.

Early Jeans

So the dog was up early all week, which led to me waking up on my own at 5am today – of course the dog slept in. I figure I’ll go in the office an hour early today in hopes of leaving an hour early to make the 5:30 body pump class by my house. Buuuuut before doing that I did something I thought about doing over the weekend.

Re-trying on all my jeans.

OMG jeans I haven’t worn in yeeeeears fit. Even jeans I bought moons ago as “goal” jeans are not a far off reality.

My ooooooold size 14 Gap jeans fit and my newer size 12 Gap jeans (#vanitysizing). I have a few other 12s in the closet that are within reach and a pair of 10s that I may actually get to wear one day!

I’m in size 12 Ann Taylor Loft trouser jeans today!! Talk about a NSV!!

In Those Jeans

To quote one of my favorite naughty songs Ginuwine’s In Those Jeans (circa early 2000s), I pulled on a pair of jeans today for the first time since the Spring and it wasn’t a horrifying experience. I actually tried on two pairs and hey both went well. That’s a NSV!

Hi friends I’m alive and well, just buried under a mountain of work during the week or having too much fun enjoying life on the weekends.

After a period/post friend’s bachelorette blip
last week: 191.3
yesterday: 190.2

I’m still on the Weight Watchers train. As of the last week or so I’ve missed some days of tracking for the first time in like 10 weeks, but I also know what choices to make. I’m trying to get back on the tracking train because it helps keep me accountable and mindful.

The real reason for this post is the NSV pictured above!

Removing this closure link from my watch was really gratifying. This is the lowest weight I think I’ve been in the ~2 years that I’ve owned this watch (a 1st anniversary gift from T – which fun fact – got me interested in rose gold and ultimately made me want rose gold to be incorporated into my engagement ring).

I miss you all, I’m coming back I swear. If I’ve missed anything super awesome in your life in the past 2 weeks send me a message and I will catch back up on ya!
