Apparently I didn’t take too many pictures this weekend. Luckily my friend Melissa who is a photogragher for the university took a TON, but she hasn’t uploaded them yet.

Here are some of my Ikea Wonderland drag queen pics (for my new followers – hi! Please don’t be scared. Despite being a girl, I wanted to have fun with makeup).  How FREAKIN fabulous and fierce am I? I could have gone even more overboard. It’s funny how when you’re home you’re like OMG this is too much and then you go out and you’re like damn I could have amped it up even more. Regardless I had so much fun playing dress up. I really may do my eye makeup like this for New Years!

Funny thing about Saturday night. I only had ONE drink. So even though I captioned the last picture “I got Bourbon-faced on Shit Street” I did not. PLENTY of people did. I was just so damn tired from my race that I was afraid alcohol was going to either put me to sleep or put me in a bad mood. Plus after running 13.1 miles I really didn’t want to drink empty calories (who am I?). It’s interesting how alcohol has quickly become less and less important to me these days. Maybe it’s because I have enough confidence to be fun without it, plus exercise endorphins are my favorite drug these days 😛

Pre-Race Day!

I took my “mental health day” and it’s been glorious. I slept past noon!

I am currently working on my half playlist. I don’t think I’ll have time to post it all before I leave, but in honor of Halloween I have included “The Monster Mash” – I also have a bunch of songs from True Blood which takes place in Louisiana. I also am including some Rocky Horror Glee. I like to have suble themes in my playlists.

I know most of you won’t care, but there is a video on the race website of the route, I’m pretty stoked. Most of the run is on St. Charles street which I’ve heard nothing, but great things about. So check it out if you’s like http://www.jazzhalf.com/course

7am CST – I’ll be a running fool. I’m hoping to run it under 2:09:59. We shall see.

Then like 7pm CST I’ll be in drag and ready for some Halloween Hijinx.

I’m sure I’ll post some short posts from the ol’ Backberry this weekend, but I hope you all have a safe and fabulous Halloween weekend!

**Note: My race packet has been safely picked up and in the hands of my friend Melissa’s amazing friend Darlene!

CRISIS AVERTED (for the most part)

A friend of a friend in NOLA is going to be able to pick up my packet tomorrow. I am going to scan my id and proxy consent form and e-mail them to her in a bit.

I did call to inquire about other options and was unofficially told I could get my packet at 5:30am the day of the race. Which I would have done, but it also would have meant I needed to be there 45 minutes earlier than I planned.

I’m excited, but nervous for the weekend. I AM RUN DOWN. I have been almost nonstop with work SINCE my half marathon the first weekend of October. I’ve worked 60+ hour weeks for the past 3 weeks (I have one last event tonight until 10pm-ish), college football games, visitors, lack of sleep, being sick, keeping up with my running schedule. It has all taken a toll on me. Honestly I’m not even going to get much of a break because NEXT Friday I head to St. Louis for a conference until the following Tuesday. I just need some serious ME time. I’m 99% sure I’m going to ask off work tomorrow because I think I might crack if I don’t get some time to myself. I’m also kinda happy I’ve decided to have a Thanksgiving STAYCATION and not go home for the first time ever. I think I’d rather just relax and so my own thing here. I NEED IT.

Beach Run

I’m off to the beach to go run on the boardwalk. When I was here in August I didn’t get a chance to do this so I’m pleased to do it now. Today is only a 2 mile run, but I think the salty ocean air will be good for my soul!

This afternoon I’m going to pick up my race packet – I’m really excited to check out all the swag.

P.S. My friend and I went to Josie’s East for dinner last night thanks to @94Monkeys suggestion and it was SOOOO GOOD! I will for sure go back 🙂

Good Afternoon

Got into New York only 15 minutes later than I was supposed to, to find it hadn’t rained all damn day! However there was a good bit of wind, the last 5 minutes of the flight and landing weren’t exactly smooth.

Met up with my mom who can’t get over how good I look and then of course we starting fighting within 10 minutes of being in the car together. She is a terrible driver and I just can’t keep my mouth shut sometimes.

Anyway she said she was too anxious to eat dinner and I had not either (minus a South Beach Diet bar I found at the aiport – seriously there were barely any healthy options in the while terminal). So we went to a diner at 11pm. I had a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and some fries. TERRIBLE I know, but it was so good and I don’t remember the last time I indulged like that.

Got home and was exhausted, but I always have a hard time going to sleep my first night anywhere. So I was up until 2:30am watching Project Runway and that show with Austin Scarlet and Santino rice that is on afterwards which always cracks me up.

So went to bed at 2:30am and slept until 1:30pm. I must say I’m glad I ate so much at night because I didn’t wake up starving. Just has some peanut butter on a bagel thin. It’s very frustrating to not have access to MY FOOD and what I normally buy.

Regardless I’m gearing up for a little 3 mile run and then to get a Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee 🙂
