Long Beach boardwalk post Sandy…gone.

I’ve spent so many miles there. My last “get loose” run before my first half marathon, my first run longer than 13.1 miles run (when if you recall I tripped at mile 12.5 and face planted because my shoe caught a nail) which also happened to be my last run of 2011. Most recently I ran a few miles on the boardwalk on my birthday in August to celebrate.

It literally blows my mind and breaks my heart to see this picture which was sent to me by a friend whose friend is emergency personnel for the county.

trembling with excitement

I’m hitting the road to Auburn, AL this afternoon – well with an overnight stop in Charlotte – but Friday around lunch I will be back in God’s country.

I am so excited I can’t even function. It will nearly be 6 month to the day since I left. I’m so excited to see friends, colleagues, students, eat southern food, go to an Auburn football game, go to my favorite church service, wear all the orange I want (and not be judged) etc.

As much as I miss Auburn I think having it as a place to visit (hopefully at least 1x a year for a football game) is best for me. I long for a lot of things about it, but I know that where I am right now is where I am supposed to be.

War Eagle!

Live from New York…

It’s my birthday week!

Yesterday after a 179.8 WIW and then CPR/AED certification I made the 5 hour voyage from DC to NY.

Today I had a 3 mile run and good god it’s gross here. The heat and humidity followed me. There were all these air quality warnings on the news today. My first 2 miles were decent, but the last mile was ugly. It’s been nearly an hour since I showered post run and I’m pretty sure I’m still sweating from my run!

I’m currently on the train to NYC for a fitblr dinner with 94monkeys, veggie life and fasterstronger!

Sending birthday love to my fellow Leo runningbeautiful who I won’t get to see this trip!

California Love

Waiting at the gate reflecting on my trip. Don’t get me wrong I wish it wasn’t SO COLD and rainy most of the trip, but other than that I really can’t complain.

I got to spend the trip with Kelly, one of my best friends who I don’t get to see enough.

Here are the quick highlights:

Wed: hung out all day at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

Thurs: Went to the HIMYM set and WATCHED the cast filming a scene in MacLaurens. Met friends for dinner and drinks at USC and explored campus.

Fri: Awesome brunch on the beach in Malibu. Explored Pepperdine’s gorgeous campus. Race expo and bib pick up.

Sat: DAVID COOK LUNCHEON. Having great conversations with Dave – including telling him my marathon “story.” Getting pictures with him and he signed my race bib.

Sun: Great weather. RAN A MARATHON. Ate In-N-Out Burger.

Mon: Slept 12 hours. Feel sore, but not as bad as I thought.

I have a big week ahead of me, full of goodbyes, packing, driving, and starting a new job!

LA Bound

After a hectic few days and very little sleep I am sitting on my flight to LAX waiting to take off.

I packed my most important race stuff in my carry on. I made sure to leave room in my luggage for all my race SWAG!

I hope to give some updates throughout my trip here and on my Marathon twitter – twitter.com/jennmarathon
