Month: October 2010
don’t act like you ain’t on beast status either. how many of your facebook friends have run half marathons? this shit ain’t tumblr š
Who wants to rub my feet?
I’ve noticed after my double digit runs that my feet get weirdly sore.Ā It’s not exactly pain, but I’m likeĀ acutely aware of all the bones and muscle in my feet.
I’ve slathered my feet in icy hot gel and worn socks to bed which has helped, but does anyone else have an suggestions?
I have getting a spa pedicure on my list, but I’m putting it off until my toenail that I lost grows in a bit more.
WTF
Apparently Ā Nike+ sensor didn’t “save” my half marathon last week. It’s not under workout history not did it sync to Nikerunning.com
I’m pissed. Seriously every freaking other run is there. And I know I “ended” workout because I saw my time and pace.Ā
I’m extra mad because I could totally be at “level GREEN” with the half.Ā
Is there a manual add to Nikerunning?
3 Hour Throwdown
Days like today I’m actually thankful I don’t have a significant other or kids. I spent 3 hours today exercising. I run 5 miles to the gym – in 90 degree weather mind you despite the fact that we had a cold snap last week. Then did an hour of yoga at the gym and ran 5 miles back home.Ā
3 hours of just exercise and I love it. It made me really think about kicking into full marathon training gear because I have the time for it.
I should also note and it thought of @365to30 today at yoga. Our yoga teacher today was a substitute who I have never seen before and she was bangin’. Seriously I spent most of class looking at her body. I actually later asked her how tall she was because yoga looks so different on people of different heights and our poses were similar (hers was way better, but our form was similar). She was 5’8, lean, but still had big boobs, a butt and hips, but everything else on her was lean and softly muscular. Seriously watching her move through poses was beautiful. She said she hasn’t taught since before the summer and she felt out of practice and was nervous. I would have never guessed. I really liked her class, lots of new stuff with a lot of strengthening. I sweated most of the class.
Oh and I signed up for a 5K on campus next Sunday which will be fun. I’m addicted to races and finish lines so it will be a nice way to keep up my momentum as aI gear up for my second half marathon on 10/30!
10.10.10
In honor of 10.10.10 I am going to run 10 miles today. I’m actually going to run 5 miles to the gym go to yoga class and then run 5 miles home.
Alos congrats to all our awesome tumblring Chicago marathoners – you rock!
Sidenote: this is my 400th post!?
Great Night
Last night was FANTASTIC.
I had not been out for drinks with friends for a while (I actually had not had any alcohol for a month in preparation for my race) and had SO MUCH FUN. I somehow organized a big group (a mix of people from my various social groups which was really fun) to go to this downtown wine trail event. We then wound up at a pub and it was just really fun times. The owner of the pub is from New York and so we chatted for a long time. The more I talked to him the more my New York accent came out which my friends found to be funny.Ā
One of the staff/bouncers at the pub is a cute guy from my gym. Thanks to some liquid courage I introduced myself and we talked for a bit. I don’t THINK I embarrassed myself, we’ll see how it plays out at the gym this week.
I induldged in some “fourth meal” from Taco Bell at 2am. I’m not proud, but I do regret it. I haven’t had Taco Bell since January. I only got 1 crunchwrap supreme – the old me would haven gotten 2. Small victories.
Pants off dance off
The past few weeks Iāve been trying to get āone last wearā out of a number of pairs of pants before I consign/sell them.
Well today I am wearing XL knit pants from NY&Co that I love, but they are waaaaay big. Like creep down my hips every step I take and Iād have to pull them up every so often. Well this morning I was walking across campus holding two cups of coffee and my pants were really sliding low to the point that I stepped on the cuff and they almost fell down!
I had two cups of coffee in my hands and didnāt know what to do. It was both scary and hilarious. Luckily I was able to put the coffees down on a bench and pull my pants up! Needless to say today is the last day Iām wearing these pants.
i just stalked YOUR facebook – omg that one of you and the student workers – YOU ARE GORGEOUS WOMAN! GET RID OF ANONYMITY!
I was going to reply to this privately, but it got me thinking about my anonymity and felt it was important to share with everyone.
My current anonymityĀ has nothing to do with not thinking I am pretty or āgorgeousā in the words of Mr. Smooth 365. I do think overall Iām quite easy on the eyes. HOWEVER for me itās more the CHANCE that people I know in real life (that are non-fitblr and therefore I donāt think can ever understand what we think/talk about)Ā stumble upon this and think: āwow I didnāt realize how fat she really was beforeā or āI thought she was looking good now, but she still weighs X and thatās fatā
And before I hear it from any of you – I know itās stupid and counterproductive to think like that, but itās honest. Iām fighting it.
I do think that after running this second half marathon at the end of the month that Iāll be confident and secure enough not to give a fuck about what anyone else THINKS, because Iāll KNOW that Iām a badass.
Texts From a Former Student
Student: Question. When did you start running? I’m on day seven ahaha and I need inspiration.
Me: In January – I hated running until like late March. don’t give up – push through!
Me: The weather now is perfect. Are you running outside, inside, on a track?
Student: I’ve been running outside. More to look at. And I really like running in the evening but thats not gonna work today.
Me: Yeah I prefer running outdoors. You should find a 5K in nov/dec and sign up for it. Having a race will help keep you motivated!
Student: Ah so true! thanks! I’ll let you know how this goes haha
Me: Keep me posted – I’m here to cheer you on š
*Note – If you would have told me a year ago I’d be getting asked for running inspiration I would have though you were crazy, but this is my life. This student isn’t the first one either. It’s just funny because she worked for me in Summer 09 and randomly texted me today out of the blue.
