Race for Hope DC

Today I’m running the Race For Hope 5K for the 3rd year in a row. This is the race that started it all for me. I began my love affair with running after crossing the finish line for the first time.

I had the honor of going to a David Cook Night if Hope benefit concert last night. It was very moving. David sang his song Permanent that he wrote about his brothers battle with brain cancer – and he doesn’t play often since losing his brother to the disease in 2009.

I despite not having a direct connection to the cause it really touches me and I’m so glad I raised money for abc2 through the LA marathon. I’ve learned that I can pushed myself harder than I ever thought I could. I’m ready to give everything I have out on the course today. Through all of this I’ve been so inspired by people around me and also found a hero within myself. Reflecting on the past 2 years of training and racing has been really interesting. Who knew that I’d be living here and running this race in my own backyard. I wonder what my life will be like when I race in 2013!
