Weekend Run Down

  • Head out in Old Town, Alexandria VA instead of DC
  • Bounce around to bars, meet up with a friend, wind up at the SKETCH karaoke bar that I’ve been to once before and have a blast.

SATURDAY

  • Sister and I walked/strolled ~2 miles each way to brunch – at a hole in the wall I had be wanting to try. YUM.
  • Shopping – including nearby Outlets, I made some great purchases
  • Went to Trader Joes for some snacks to enjoy while watching the planes land/take off at Gravelly Point Park
  • Headed up to U street for Ethiopian at a yum place and I got to use another expiring living social deal
  • Hung out at a rooftop bar and chatted with a few gentlemen, including one I texted with all day yesterday…
  • Stayed out until 3am aka took the last metro train home

SUNDAY

  • Went to bed at 4am and was up by 9am to get my sister to Union Station for her bus
  • Went to church

  • Did insanity
  • Went to a Korean BBQ place with my roommate and her friend that was super tasty
  • Watched Frozen (my first time) with my roommate and I really liked it, despite not having seen a Disney animated in YEARS.

Solid weekend. And now this week is finals week for the kiddos, I’m looking forward to some quiet for a month until the academic cycle starts again in late June with new student orientation (but at least I’m not in charge of it anymore).

I am IN LOVE with it

TBT from my first week as a “fitblr” back in 2010.

May 11th marks my tumblr’s 4th official birthday. However I did start my weight loss and blogging via blogspot in January 2010, but transitioned over in May when I learned about the community from my friend Billy (Mr365).

Friday 5ive

1. Do you guys remember the boy band 5ive? “Baby when the lights go out…” or “can I get your number baby, hit me with your seven digits”

2. I saw the new subway commerical for avocados and two ladies competing about who loves avocados more. That could SO be me and also I want an avoCARdo so bad now!

3. Of COURSE, yesterday my first day going gluten free, I went to an alumni dinner event at a mexican place and my table literally ate 4 baskets of chips and salsa. I did not have a single chip and ordered a salad with chicken and avocado. I also didn’t drink. I’m pretty proud of my self control.

4. Hot damn I’m sore as hell from level 2 of insanity and yesterday was just the first day. These next 4 weeks are going to either make me or break me!

5. And last, but certainly not least, this weekend will be my 5th year running the Race for Hope DC. It was my first 5K ever. My first race ever. It started my love affair with running. It doesn’t hurt that I also get to hang out with my main squeeze David Cook (of American Idol fame) whose charity team I run with. He’s doing an acoustic storytellers type concert for the team tomorrow. This weekend is always special for me and I’m excited it’s here!

Weekend Funsies

I know it’s only Thursday but I’m excited for the weekend

  • Tonight I’m having a roommate night with my roommate since we haven’t hung out outside of the house yet!
  • Tomorrow night I’m going to the annual Drag Show on campus that features students and professional performing
  • Saturday (day) I’m headed to Baltimore for a Big Event service event with my alumni chapter
  • Saturday (night) I’m drinking and painting with some lovely DC tumblrs – ROLL CALL
  • Sunday (am) I get to go to church for the first time in like a month
  • Sunday (midday) I’m getting a post-race brunch with one of my friends who is in town for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler

Simple Pleasures

I didn’t have any substantial plans this weekend, but it was a great one nonetheless:

Friday

  • Ran 3 miles after work in the freezing cold icyness (see previous post)
  • Watched this week’s Nashville with my roommate
  • Went to bed early after having a late Thursday at a friend’s fun housewarming in Baltimore

Saturday

  • Went on my first official THIRFTING adventure with my friend and her cousin. Bought 2 pairs of dress pants, a work shirt, a loungy shirt, a fun tshirt, a purse, and flannel pj pants for under $25
  • Did T25 workout
  • Wrapped up Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother on DVD, since I’m on a quest to rewatch the series before the finale on March 31st

Sunday

  • Got trained on the tech and soundboard at church, it brought me back to my college radio and tv station days
  • Stopped by a few CVS stores to pick up some super discount Sally Hansen Nail Effects (see previous post)
  • Ran 8 miles and felt pretty damn good about it since it’s the furthest I’ve ran since my April half marathon
  • Went to Starbucks to work on my resume and apply for a dreamish job
  • Went to Trader Joes for an awesome and reasonably priced shopping trip
  • Watched Grammy’s on a 90 min delay so I was able to fast forward through commercials (best performance of the night was Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar in my opinion. Trent Reznor/Queens of the Stone Age is a close second, but stupid CBS rudely cut them off).
