MeasuringLife: Getting Healthy & Fit turned 4 today!

Got this in my email last week. It is technically true. I started a blogspot blog on January 12, 2010, but I didn’t officially move to tumblr until May 2010. But I backdated my posts from my old blog so everything would be here.

Regardless, Happy 4th Birthday health and fitness blogging!

More on my fella

Since curious minds want to know and since when do I keep secrets from tumblr? I figure I’d fill you in…

I met Greg through OKC. I actually had been taking a break from online dating and was going to deactivate my OKC (I actually had bought a living social deal to try match for a month that I was going to activate), but the day after Ragnar I logged into OKC just to see what was in there before closing it down. Well Greg was in there. Just from his profile I saw we had a lot in common, which led to a few messages before we started talking on gchat.

We had such good back and forth on gchat and made plans to go to a Caps (NHL Hockey Game) on the 19th. I was nervous, but excited. He was nervous too, it’s cute looking back. But we clicked very quickly and following that first date I saw him Tues and Thurs that week. We’ve actually made playing trivia on Tuesdays a “thing.” The first week we came in 2nd to last and the second week we came in 2nd overall!

He was on a pre-planned vacation/cruise Nov 1-9th, but we e-mailed and I even got a phone call. Distance actually made the heart grow fonder (as CHEESY as that is and I swear being gooey and cheesy is NOT me).

Saturday he pretty much flew home dropped off his luggage and met me out that night for the alumni game watch party I was hosting. We spent the whole weekend together. Saturday night he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We went out to some VA vineyards on Sunday for a beautiful autumn Sunday Funday and even brought the dog (who is a fan of Greg). We are playing trivia tonight and have plans to win – oh and our trivia team name is “Slap Bet” since we are both big How I Met Your Mother Fans!

PS – He lives like 3 miles away and the funniest part is that his parents like like a mile from me. We also have a few weird things in common (pertaining to our exes) – both, but more on that another time.

Gratitude

I went to a well-being workshop at work today.

We were asked to list 5 things we are grateful for today, mine are:

  • my physical ability/health
  • my friendships
  • my drive
  • my dog Freddie
  • my morning radio show (Elvis Duran)

We were also asked to reflect on a time when “I was at my best” and why

My best was LA marathon training.

  • I had a routine
  • great health – I was exercising regularly
  • I was in a job for 4 years and friendships for 4 years where I was living
  • I had motivation thanks to David Cook and ABC2
  • I was facing a cross country move so I had lots of goodbyes which caused me to savor moments
  • I was also looking ahead to new beginnings
  • I was excited about my upcoming marathon and LA trip
  • I was FOCUSED
  • I had a great support network both near and far
  • I was blogging regularly
  • I had clear goals

I want to get back being at my best. Focusing on my fitness makes me the best version of myself.

More notes from that session coming soon…

I’m in the old phase of being young and the young phase of being old.

Can I just tell you – so far 30 has been SO good to me. It’s been a very weird week, but a good weird. I feel like my inner Tyler Durden is finally emerging!
