Great Night

Last night was FANTASTIC.

I had not been out for drinks with friends for a while (I actually had not had any alcohol for a month in preparation for my race) and had SO MUCH FUN. I somehow organized a big group (a mix of people from my various social groups which was really fun) to go to this downtown wine trail event. We then wound up at a pub and it was just really fun times. The owner of the pub is from New York and so we chatted for a long time. The more I talked to him the more my New York accent came out which my friends found to be funny. 

One of the staff/bouncers at the pub is a cute guy from my gym. Thanks to some liquid courage I introduced myself and we talked for a bit. I don’t THINK I embarrassed myself, we’ll see how it plays out at the gym this week.

I induldged in some “fourth meal” from Taco Bell at 2am. I’m not proud, but I do regret it. I haven’t had Taco Bell since January. I only got 1 crunchwrap supreme – the old me would haven gotten 2. Small victories.

Good Afternoon

Got into New York only 15 minutes later than I was supposed to, to find it hadn’t rained all damn day! However there was a good bit of wind, the last 5 minutes of the flight and landing weren’t exactly smooth.

Met up with my mom who can’t get over how good I look and then of course we starting fighting within 10 minutes of being in the car together. She is a terrible driver and I just can’t keep my mouth shut sometimes. 

Anyway she said she was too anxious to eat dinner and I had not either (minus a South Beach Diet bar I found at the aiport – seriously there were barely any healthy options in the while terminal). So we went to a diner at 11pm. I had a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and some fries. TERRIBLE I know, but it was so good and I don’t remember the last time I indulged like that. 

Got home and was exhausted, but I always have a hard time going to sleep my first night anywhere. So I was up until 2:30am watching Project Runway and that show with Austin Scarlet and Santino rice that is on afterwards which always cracks me up.

So went to bed at 2:30am and slept until 1:30pm. I must say I’m glad I ate so much at night because I didn’t wake up starving. Just has some peanut butter on a bagel thin. It’s very frustrating to not have access to MY FOOD and what I normally buy. 

Regardless I’m gearing up for a little 3 mile run and then to get a Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee 🙂

True Life: I had 3 cupcakes in 3 days

I swear I am really good about eating well when I don’t have bad food infront of my face. I had a conference at work for part of the weekend which didn’t allow many options. Saturday evening I went to a baby shower and I couldn’t say no to temptation. Then yesterday was a True Blood finale party again with more garbage oh and there was a work thing yesterday with pizza. I do think I did my best with moderation, but still. Then I ate a cupcake today because it was staring me down and I knew it was going to eat it sooner or later – so I just wanted to “get it over with” (THAT IS SO NOT A HEALTHY WAY TO THINK).

I’m just thankful to not be taunted by these things on a regular basis. I have a full week of running ahead of me to keep me focused – topped off with a 12 mile run this weekend.

My New Favorite Meal

Recently I have tried to phase out a lot of red meat and diet soda (I’m almost 1 month completely soda free – it would have been 7 weeks, but I had one at a work event).

I’m now OBSESSED with Turkey Burgers and Diet Iced Green Tea.

At first I was eating the turkey burgers plain on a sandwich round, but I didn’t want the bread and got creative. I now eat my turkey burgers with guacamole or…… PESTO. Seriously pesto on a turkey burger is HEAVEN. Try it.

I buy the pre-made Diet Iced Green Tea or refrigerate hot green tea that I make. I usually water down the pre-made Diet Iced Green Tea, just so I can drink 2 glasses of it, but really only  1/2 of it is tea.

Then pending on my mood I couple it with a small salad, hummus and carrots, or some baked tostitos.

#Fail

After making the same thing for breakfast for like 3 months you would think I would have a handle on on it. You thought wrong.

I forgot to mix in greek yogurt with my steel cut oats and berries. I looked at it for a while when I got to work and it took a minute to figure out what was wrong.

I even JUST bought 2 huge “vats” of Fage this week.

Disappointing.

Even more disappointing my WIW

  • This week 188.8 (I was at 186.6 on Monday)

It’s a loss from week to week, but I’m annoyed it’s a gain from Monday. Monday could have been a fluke or it could be that I didn’t go “potty” this morning. I still feel great and I know numbers aren’t everything.
