Hi would you like some icing with a side of cupcake? I have to say these cupcakes are my type of cupcake…I much prefer icing to cake. In fact I have specific memories of eating from tubs of icing while sitting behind a recliner with my sister hiding from my mom when I was little (commence fatness).

I did have HALF of a cupcake and I didn’t even eat the cake, just the icing. I don’t regret it and it will just make me push even harder at the gym today. My secretary brought them in as leftovers from her daughter’s birthday – how friggin cute is the box they came in?

These cupcake makes me think of this website http://www.thisiswhyyourefat.com/

I made the banana ice cream I posted about. I actually found this handy dandy peanut butter packet with dark chocolate in it right next to the peanut butter. I had the chocolate chips in my cart like the recipe called for, but it made me nervous to have choc chips in the house. So luckily I found this product and put the chips back. So yummy!

Vegan Banana Ice Cream

One of my friends just tweeted that she made this tonight and that it was delish. So random because I put a banana in the freezer yesterday (again from a fabulous fitblr’s advice) and I thought today when I ate it that it was like gelato. I am on a mission to make it this weekend. Check it out http://www.neverhomemaker.com/2010/06/ultimate-vegan-ice-cream.html

PS – that website looks pretty awesome too

When I move back to the Northeast I am going to give up soda. I have been without my love Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee for over 3 years now (except for quick trips home when I binge on Iced Coffee…is that possible?) Next Wednesday I get Iced Coffee when I embark on my roadtrip to New York – thankfully they have some in Georgia and Charlotte. It makes me sad to think of all the DD Iced Coffee I’ve missed over the years – but I’m sure my wallet is happy. I just can’t wait to get my LARGE TOASTED ALMOND ICED COFFEE SKIM MILK ONLY. Honestly I think I could give up soda for DD Iced Coffee. Maybe I’ll experiment whilst home. Yes I just said whilst.

In college I had an unhealthy addiction to Arnie P or Arnold Palmer half tea half lemonade beverage for those of you who don’t know him like I do.

Well since I started this Journey I’ve had a case of mini Arnie P’s that I haven’t touched since January (well I had half of one watered down once and it wasn’t the same). mainly because I was HORRIFIED to see it had 80 calories and 19 sugars (and those are for mini 12 oz Arnie P’s the regular ones are like 24 oz)

So today I’m in the grocery store and I see these.

Arnie P packets. With only 10 calories and 2 grams of sugar. YES PLEASE.

They taste just like the real thing. <3 <3 <3

Ooopsies

It’s not really an oops moment I suppose when you KNOW what you are doing. With today wrapping up our last of 8 orientation sessions I indulged a tiny bit with some of the foods and treats that I limited this summer. I also have two banquets this weekend that are known to have fantastic desserts. I will make the best decisions I can, but I also deserve to celebrate as well.

I’m most excited about my banquet dresses for this weekend, they are waaaay cute. One I haven’t worn in a year so I’ll be curious to see how much better it looks on me now! Don’t worry I’ll post pics…

Alabama gets Healthy

Moving the the south from the northeast a few years ago definitely didn’t help my weight. I can totally understand why Alabama is one of the most obese states. We all know southern food by nature is fried, sugary, and buttered. However I didn’t realize how few healthy options are available, especially when it comes to products in grocery stores.

Over the past few months I’ve read so much about various healthy/organic options, however I’d have to drive like 2 hours to a “healthy/organic” based grocery store.

Well in the past 2 months we’ve gotten a Publix and an EarthFare. Both of which are grocery stores for those of you not in the south, as I’m pretty sure they are both southern based chains. These stores have been talk of the town.I still wish we had a Trader Joe’s but I’ll take what I can get.

I already have started my love affair with Publix right after it opened and tonight I checked out EarthFare.

2 of my awesome purchases include:

  • 36oz Fage Greek Yogurt. 36oz!!!!
  • Shirataki noodles – which @tracytakeson had me worried about, but I decided to give them a whirl and I really liked them. The texture didn’t both me at all, but I can understand why it would.

Nighty Night

It’s 11pm I’m headed to bed after a successful day of water drinking and eating well. I did have 1 glass of wine, but it was free and I turned down like 20 other glasses of wine today (of course the ONE day I’m not drinking is when Nashville wants to like give wine away).

10K tomorrow morning 7am CST. I’m stoked.

Wish me luck!

xoxo
