On a brighter note this little product that I found at Publix has made my week!

I love water, but I prefer it with lemon. Well I hate buying/cutting lemon and dealing with sticky juice at home. Well I found this. It’s real crystallized lemon, it’s so light and refreshing and 0 calories! I find Crystal Light to be too thick (I always double the water recommended on Crystal Light). I saw online that True Lemon makes True Lime (which I saw at Publix) and True Orange (I.MUST.FIND.IT). The package comes in 32 little packs for the same price as like 12 Crystal Light to-go packets. I highly recommend it…I’ve been drinking even more water than usual thanks to it!

Temptation

I successfully avoided lots of temptation yesterday. Eating college catering food is always dangerous. I avoided burgers, chips, cookies very successfully. I only had a SMALL spoonful a broccoli cheese casserole and 2 bites of someone’s pie. Instead ate heaping piles of grilled chicken, veggies and salad!

I just tweeted that “I’m gonna make the track my bitch this afternoon.”

I talk a big game, but I think I’ll still end up getting bitch slapped by the track today.

Also I have like binged on the sugar the past 2 days…no bueno. I can avoid cake and sweets when they are not around me. So note to self don’t volunteer to bring dessert to a gathering because I’ll end up eating the leftovers and/or licking the bowl clean (which I sadly did yesterday).

I hope to knock out a total of 15 miles this week. I should be on par if I do ~5 between today and tomorrow.

Sweets

So this year I have been trying to cut back on sugars overall and for Lent I have given up excess sweets. I really have to say I don’t miss them. I did have 3 “mess ups” but one of them was pre-planned. I did have wedding cake at a wedding I went to. Then I had a piece of cookie cake which I regret because it wasn’t that good and I had been so successful at saying no to cookie cake in the past. Then I had a half a cup slow churn ice cream – which I really don’t feel bad about, it’s half the sugar of regular ice cream and I only had a little and I REALLY wanted it.

It’s just so interesting reading the sugar content on things and thinking back to when I thought I was making good decisions when I was eating low fat stuff, but the real issue is sugar. Even post lent I am really going to limit my excess sugar intake, unless I REALLY want it, but it’s not as a hard to say “NO” to things as I thought.

Lent

For the past 6 weeks I have been really trying to cut back on sugar and sweets, well for Lent I am going to try and AVOID any excess sugar or sweets. Goodbye cookies, ice cream, candy – not that I eat a lot of it, but for 40 days I want to see what would happen if I “just say no.” The ONLY exception I am giving for this rule is my friend’s wedding at the end of the month. I haven’t been to a wedding as a “adult” before and I want the full experience – wedding cake and all.

I also wanted to mention that twice this week I ran 3 miles on the treadmill instead of my usual 2.5 and actually this past Monday I ran the 3 miles at a pretty good gallop – between 5.0 – 5.5 on the treadmill, so I did about a 11:30min mile for 3 miles and didn’t die! I really feel confident about my ability to get to at least a 10 minute mile by May. I don’t think I’ll ever “LOVE” running, but I’m learning to hate it less – good music is definitely key. If anyone has any running suggestions I would love them.
