I’m psuedo mad at myself for eating after 9pm the past two days. I’ve been really good the past few months, but its been hard since I run an orientation program and a college and have 18 hour days, most of which end at 1am.

No Bueno
Soooo I was doing great on calories today (all week actually) and I decided to get Chick-fil-a fries and chargrilled sandwich with just the bottom bun and no sauces HOWEVER I feel sick. I’ve seen people write they have felt sick eating fast food after not having it (its been at least 6 weeks). Now I have to do back to back presentations feeling sick.
Drinking black coffee because there are no non-coffeemate options and I was horrified by the sugar and calorie count in coffeemate. I’m generally an iced coffee with skim or a hot coffee with half and half kinda gal – no sweeteners.
Learning Curve
I was going to go to the gym today despite it being a rest day, but as it got closer to the end of the work day which started at 7:15am, I realized I am far too tired and my legs could really use a break, so no gym today. I’m going to try and keep my rest days RESTFUL because I think it will pay off in the long run.
I also have been assessing my “myplate” and my calories are lower than they should be, but my protein in WAAAY high. So I need to find a balance of eating more calories, but with less protein. SUGGESTIONS?
It’s official I can’t go to Publix without spending a small fortune, but they have SUCH great stuff. My purchases:
- boat loads of greek yogurt
- fresh berries (blue, black, rasp)
- steel cut oats
- diet iced green tea
- true lime/lemon
- planters’s nut-rition bars
- baked tostitos scoops
- sprouts
- fresh corn on the cob
- spring mix salad
- reduced fat gorgonzola crumbles
- mini chicken sliders
- lean ground beef
- laughing cow light cheese spread wedges
- baked chicken tenders
- roasted red pepper hummus
- avocados
- protein bar
What I wanted to buy, but didn’t:
- beer
- sirloin steak
- salsa verde
- almond butter
- beer
- bacon
- various gardein products
- watermelon
- beer
Experiments X 2
Soooo I joined MyPlate yesterday reluctantly. I really don’t want to become a calorie counting obsesser – it’s not my style and I’m bad at math. However I want to get a clearer picture of what I’m not getting in my diet or getting too much of. I see some of you folks losing 2 pounds a week and I’d love for weight to drop off me at that pace. I’ve been an exercise fiend and eating well, but I want to see what my problem is, it could be that I’m not eating enough or enough of the right things. So I am doing this mini experiment. I’m going to be using MyPlate for the next 2 weeks leading up to my 10K and see what I learn.
Also starting today I am going to be doing a plank every day for the next 2 weeks (I was inspired by http://losingweightinthecity.com/) and see how my time and form HOPEFULLY improve – however I will not be videoing myself.
Fail
I’m working orientation this week and I ate a whole piece of pie that we had at dinner – usually I just take a bit of someone else’s, but I thought I could only eat half. I knew it was a bad idea as I was doing it, but didn’t care. Now I feel gross.
In May a friend introduced me to Wheat Germ. I’ve been adding some to my my protein shake YUM and greek yogurt DOUBLE YUM.
It has the texture finely chopped of toasted coconut and it tasts like almonds. SO GOOD.
This article talks about it’s postive effects on weight loss http://health.howstuffworks.com/food-nutrition/natural-weight-loss-food-wheat-germ-ga.htm

Now & Then
Me in College: Drinking a beer in the shower to kick off pre-gaming
Me Today: Drinking a protein shake in the shower post-workout
Seriously WHO AM I ?!?!?!
I had this thought the other day when I was drinking my protein shake in the shower and meant to blog it, but then again today I drank my shake in the shower and knew I needed to share it. I guess you can chalk it up to multi-tasking.
Today’s Agenda
- Late breakfast of greek yogurt, fruit, eggs and coffee
- Tanning poolside and reading the latest Sookie Stackhouse book
- Gym for yoga and a 4 mile run to close out week 2 of half marathon training
- True Blood season 3 premiere at my friend Ashley’s place. I’m totally Team Eric, but I know I’m also gonna jump on the Alcide train too!
