Shadowed my first full Body Pump class today and led my training tracks (triceps and biceps). I’m currently working on choreo/cues for lunges and shoulders. The peak heart rate was me doing lunges with a plate the whole time. I’m on a high!
Later today I’m getting re-certified for CPR/AED, all part of my quest to become a full fledged fitness instructor.

What a weekend! 20 hours of training later and I’m halfway to getting certified to teach Body Pump! I’m excited to embark upon this next chapter of my fitness and healthy lifestyle journey! Now to spend the next 30-60 days perfecting my choreography, technique, and coaching! I definitely have a new found respect for the preparation that goes into Les Mills group fitness formats!
Still reflecting on my great weekend with these 10 other instructors-in-training and how encouraging our master instructor Jody was! All of us are local to the DC metro area (including Jody) so I know my relationships with these folks will only continue to grow!
Passed my initial Body Pump instructor training!! It was an intense, but educational and rewarding weekend! Now I have 60 days to submit my final video for review before I’m certified! But tonight I rest and drink a few pumpkin beers!
Checking in before day 2 of Body Pump instructor training!
Lunch break! So far so good. Lots of great insights and technique adjustments. We have our first performances later this afternoon!
I just realized I didn’t share here that I recently started dog sitting with @roverdotcom! I’ve had clients the past 2 weekends and I’ve loved it. It’s a pretty simple way to make money and multitask and HELLO I love dogs! I have some Rover discount codes or could share my page if your are in the Northern VA/DC area and want me to dog sit/walk!
My Body Pump initial instructor training is a week from Saturday. Yesterday I was sent the new release and my assigned tracks to learn: 5 – Triceps and 6 – Biceps.
I did the whole release as a student then watched and took notes yesterday. Today I did tracks 5 & 6 three times with my verbal cues. I feel really great about Triceps and only need to fine tune my cues for Biceps. It’s crazy how it all sort of comes to you while you are doing it.
Regardless practice makes perfect and I plan to get these tracks in at least 25 more times before the training weekend!
.
Holy sh*t I did it! Tonight I finished tagging the last of all 3,139 posts on my blog! I literally started this at the end of June and worked at it little by little. I created QUITE A FEW categories to tag. Over time I recognized the themes within the subcategories are: weight loss, fitness, love, music, goals, self care (physical), self care (mental/emotional), and changes.
.
These categories are the chapters of my story, I need to shape and polish what I have but between my Measuring Life blog that I’ve had since 2010+ the 4 other smaller blogs I had from 2006-2010 + all my paper journals = my book/play/musical.
.
My website is the next undertaking, which I want to have a soft launch on November 18 which is the 11th anniversary of my fathers death.
.
Thank you all for your support!

I put on my big girl pants and registered for the initial training course for Body Pump on October 13-14!
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time and with support from my sister who is an instructor as well as the instructors from gym I’m ready!
It’s more than fitness for me it’s self care and personal development. I’m excited to see where taking these steps will lead me…
