Girly Overload
Between wedding planning and now home remodeling I’m getting sucked into a vortex of things I’ve actively tried to not care about ever.
Today we met with a design/renovation husband and wife team that came recommended by neighbors. I was basically like I have no vision, I just want it function, to flow, and to not be an eyesore like our current outdated kitchen and bath. When asked about our style I was like ummmm we’re going for a beachy vibe, despite not being near a beach or major body of water…
I’ve never been a “girly-girl” and I never spent time dreaming about weddings or homes. So of this upcoming planning is going to test my will for sure!
But at the end of the day I’ll be married to my guy and have a beautiful new kitchen and master bath so it’s worth. Oh and I’ll be broke haha.
Woooosaaaaa
Seriously who wants to be my wedding planner and project manage my remodel…
As you can tell from my recent posts I’ve been working on my beach bod. Here is my inspo pic haha #TBT
TBT – 2008 yikes edition.
I don’t even really recognize myself there. Always nice to have some perspective.
Awww last week was my 6 year tumblr-versary!
In January 2010 I has started MeasuringLife “1.0″ on blogspot, but after a few months I caught wind of tumblr and the fitblr community (pour one out for the hey day of fitblr) and moved over to tumblr and backfilled with my blogger posts.
Thank you for being here through my ups and down. My too many posts in a week to no posts in a week times. This outlet is a huge part of my journey.
TBT: yikes edition aka the one time in my life I ever attempted any type of bang…
This is the photo from Thanksgiving eve 6 years ago that led to me changing it all.
I remember I didn’t even have jeans that fit, so I wore stretchy work pants.
It took this picture for me to realize how big I had gotten. I had just lost my dad 2 years earlier due to weight issues. I needed to make a life change.
I was down nearly 50 lbs a year later. My weight still fluctuates, but the lifestyle is on track for a long happy life.
There are probably 30 years between these two pics, but the same level of cuteness! Happy Birthday to me!

The Difference Four Years Can Make
Four years ago, I was finishing up an internship in Mobile, AL with MiLB. I was getting ready to move from Mobile to Norman, OK. I was about to start an MBA program with a group of strangers that I would spend almost every waking moment of the next 16 month with. That’s four years ago on the left.
I was thinking about all that’s happened to me in the last four years. So much life in the space between those pictures. In the last four years, I…
– moved to NYC twice and left NYC twice…something I never thought I’d do
– moved back to Auburn without a job, got a job, got another job, and now have a job that doesn’t feel like work every single day.
– ran eleven 10Ks, seven half marathons, two 15Ks, 2 10-Milers, a handful of 5Ks, ONE MARATHON. And I’m training for #2. (All of this has actually happened since May 2013, so two years, but still)
– LOST 50LBS
I think I’ve also managed to find some confidence along the way and I’ve maybe gotten over some of my body image issues. I did something this morning on my run that I wouldn’t have done 6 months ago, much less 4 years ago. I got so hot on my my humid run that I took my tank off and finished in just my shorts and sports bra. So I’m going to take today and be proud of how far I’ve come. Tomorrow I’ll decide where I want to go from here!
This is MY GURL! So proud of this one.
From one of my former student to a trusted friend.
