WIW

This week: 199.4

Last week 198.4

I still have an “1” infront and I’m okay with that. This week with my period and back to back orientation sessions it was crazy, but now the next week is slow at work and I plan on kicking ass and taking names at the gym!

Also one of my besties is coming to Nashville for the 4th of July and I *think* she’s going to run the 5K while I do the 10K. She doesn’t think she’s ready, but I know she has it in her!

On a brighter note this little product that I found at Publix has made my week!

I love water, but I prefer it with lemon. Well I hate buying/cutting lemon and dealing with sticky juice at home. Well I found this. It’s real crystallized lemon, it’s so light and refreshing and 0 calories! I find Crystal Light to be too thick (I always double the water recommended on Crystal Light). I saw online that True Lemon makes True Lime (which I saw at Publix) and True Orange (I.MUST.FIND.IT). The package comes in 32 little packs for the same price as like 12 Crystal Light to-go packets. I highly recommend it…I’ve been drinking even more water than usual thanks to it!

You know I’m working too hard when in my post I from yesterday I thought today was Wednesday. I was even dreading the scale this morning…I got on and was less than thrilled, but then I realized it’s only Tuesday and I can still turn this ship around. In all honesty I worked an 18 hour day yesterday, so technically it really does feel like Wednesday. It’s just hard since last Wednesday I’ve worked freshman orientation Wed-Fri and now Sun-Tues…most of which has been eating college dining food (but making the best possible choices from there).  We have a week off from orientation (I still have the be in the office, but I need to catch up on a ton of emails, calls, and CLEAN my office) – I’m glad to have a week to get back into the swing of things.

So regardless of what the scale days tomorrow, next week I’m thowing down!

Damn Ovaries*

I’m anxious about WIW tomorrow since I have my period. I’ve been trying to be really good, but as you ladies all know our bodies do crazy things this time of the month.

I’m also HOPING that I won’t have it for my 10K next month – I’m gonna cut it close, but Aunt Flow better not arrive until AFTER THE RACE!

*Sorry fellas if you read this – hopefully you saw the word “ovaries” and skipped this post 😉

Hot Hot Heat

So after going to bed at 1am I got up at 6am and made my way to campus for the parent run. It was 70 degrees and humid as heck. The run has about 15 parents, mostly dads. We also had some ROTC folks, orientation leaders and Dr Doug – our fearless leader. Dr Doug was pumped that I made it for a run! I was really excited and kept pace with folks for the first mile or so, but these people were serious.
Having 40+ year old parents out run you isn’t too good for your ego, but I had an 18 hour day ahead of me so I slowed down and ran by myself the 2nd half of the run. I forgot about all the “rolling hills” of campus – yeesh. Regardless I was pretty proud of myself. I got back prob 6 minutes after the rest of the group, but there are no losers!
One thing I’ve come to realize that since I took up running in January — EVERY day that I run outside is the hottest day I’ve ever run. So summer in Alabama is gonna be a challenge, but I’m a fighter. When there’s a will there’s a way.
I plan on doing another parent run later in the summer – maybe right before my 10K and see how much my running has progressed. I know I need to do more more more outdoor running. My outdoor pace is not nearly as good as my treadmill pace and I need to continue work on my breathing. Also I need to make time to work on sprinting as well. I know I’ll never be an amazing runner, but I continue to amaze myself as a runner!

Run Baby Run

I am currently working session 3 of 8 of our freshman orientation program aka 18 hour work days. I most likely will get home at 12:30am tonight and plan on getting up at 6:10am and going on the running tour of campus that we offer. I’ve never done the running tour, but we usually get a few handful of parents and orientation leaders to run. It’s about a 3 mile run which is also how much I need to run to kick off this weeks half marathon training. Wish we luck it has been humid as all hell here lately!

1/2 Marathon Training Week 1 – DUNZO

Mon – 3.5mi

Tues – 3mi

Wed – 3mi

Thurs – Rest

Fri – 3mi

Sat – 4mi

Sun(tomorrow) – Rest

Somehow I did 4 miles today in under 42:48. So my average pace was 10:42 min/mile. Most of the run was around 10:20 pace. The hardest part was miles 3.25-3.75 – I ran closer to an 11/12 min/mile pace then, but I pushed through and feel great!

16.5 miles for the week isn’t too shabby!
