The Early Bird Gets the RUN

I slept HARD last night and was confused what day it was when my alarm went off at 7:15am. No it’s not time to work, it’s time to DO WORK.

I didn’t move out the door as quickly as I hoped, but at 7:45am I was off and running. My plan was to knock out 17 miles and get to church albeit sweaty by 11:00am.

It was FOGGY, HUMID, and thick outside. I was sweaty immeadiately.

I felt really good on the run. I didn’t want to push too hard, but I also wanted to get to church. I was willing to cut the run slightly short if I need to, but  my last 3 miles were REALLY strong. My last mile was my second fastest.

I managed to keep all of my splits under 12 minutes, with the exception of mile 10 which was 12:04. Average pace per mile was 11:16.

My “half marathon” time was 2:28ish. Overall time 3:11:52.

17 miles. I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around it. I feel like a million bucks. I can really start to envision 26.2!!

And I made it to church (only a few minutes late) after changing shirts and a spritz a febreeze. Now after a shower, I sit.

Bandit?

There is a half marathon in town tomorrow (well it was supposed to be today, but we are having tornado warnings and watches) so my 17 miler has been pushed to tomorrow which is for the best since I went out last night and drank a good bit by accident.

ANYWAY. Running the half with miles tacked on for my 15 mile run was so sucessful, I was thinking of doing that tomorrow. I had thought about it a while back, but I didn’t want to pay $50 for a training run.

I’m thinking of being a bandit and using their course to run the majority of my 17 miles. What is bandit culture? I don’t mind breaking rules, but I don’t want to break like “runners code.”

Any suggestions on bandit does and don’ts?

I have a 17 miler this weekend and I’m nervous.

I’m confident in my physical ability. I mean I rocked 15 miles 2 weeks ago, but running is SO mental. I’m committing to running over 3 hours. 17 miles – I could like run to the AL/GA state line (not really, but practically).

I need to stock up on some GUs, sleep well and “get my mind right” – a favorite quote from one of my spin instructors.

I have 4 miles to run after work today because I didn’t run yesterday and I’m hoping to hit up my first yoga class in ages on Sunday – I blame Robin for that!

Wish me luck!

I may not be Eminem, but I rocked 8 mile

Tonight’s run was one for the record books. Perfect 40ish degree weather, fresh legs and a great pace.

I did 8 miles in 1:25:18.

That is nearly 10 minutes FASTER than the last time I ran exactly 8 miles back in early October.

My splits were all under 11 minutes. My last mile was my 2nd fastest. I’ve really been working on conserving my energy so I can go balls to the wall the last leg of a run.

Splits (can anyone tell me how to drag the picture from the garmin connect site?)

  • Mile 1 – 10:27
  • Mile 2 – 10:37
  • Mile 3 – 10:31
  • Mile 4 – 10:33
  • Mile 5 – 10:57
  • Mile 6 – 10:55
  • Mile 7 – 10:49
  • Mile 8 – 10:31

*I did pause my Garmin at my halfway point to eat a GU

Race day is 2 months from today!!

Today is also the day I kick off my fundraising for ABC2 which is a Brain Cancer Research foundation. I ran my first 5K to support their cause in 2010 and then again in 2011. The team captain is David Cook (running his first marathon as well) who most of you should know from my many rambling about him and how he inspired me to start running.

$26 sounds like a nice donation right 😛

Last week: 178.0

This week: 179.4

Change: +1.4

After a staggering 5.4 loss last week I’m not surprised. My eating has largely remained the same, but I pounded less miles this past week (as per training). With a 17 miler this weekend and an 18 miler the next week I feel confident that I’ll see another loss.

I still just thrilled to be in the 170s and for size 12s to be getting big for me.

And I’m thrilled to quiet smitten with Lucas. I set an alarm EARLY this morning just so I could text him before he left his place for his first day on the new job! Who am I?

Remember that time I ran 4 miles with my ass cheeks hanging out?

Oh wait that was tonight. I wore these tiny compression shorts that worked their way up my legs as a ran. I also had a blue flashing running light clipped to the back of my shorts which really alerted the world to my exposed flesh.

Regardless of the peep show Freddie and I knocked out 4 miles in 40:54. Stellar run with a negative split ta-boot(y).
